T-Mobile was hit yesterday with a major outage. AT&T claims it didn't impact them though we saw multiple customer phones in the shop yesterday change to "No Service" during this time. https://www.fiercewireless.com//t-mobile-resolves-13-hour-

"This pandemic has made clear what we’ve always knownpreventing people from fixing their own stuff hurts people and the only reason companies do it is to increase their profits."

If anyone knows of anyone locally affected by this please let us know we would like to help in any way possible. This is just sad and irresponsible of them to not have planned better for returning essential devices during a time of crisis. https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-store-repaired-stores

We understand the concern surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak and we’d like to assure all current and future customers that we are handling the virus seriously, but calmly. Our first priority is still our customer base and our staff professionally handling repair needs and keeping customers connected to loved ones, while keeping our employees safe and employed. We will continue to be open during this hard time for everyone. While the stay at home order for CA was very non-spe...cific most other states who have shut down consider electronics repair essential for everyone to remain connected and able to work or learn remotely. We will be implementing further changes to our store policy amid the shutdown order to better protect ourselves and the safety of our customers. Moving forward we will not allow any customers to wait in store during repairs. All services will be drop off and pickup only at this time, and we respectfully ask all guests to not handle any merchandise they do not intend to purchase. We will continue our high standard of disinfection and cleaning of not only our office, but all devices that come through during this time. Staff will maintain all procedures recommended by the CDC as well as wear protection for everyone's safety. We will still be working on a walk in first come first serve basis, and appointments are not necessary. However, during this time please understand that some repairs may have longer times due to extra procedures as well as extra demand for our services. We will prioritize essential devices over non-essential at our discretion. Communications devices such as phones will out weigh computers and tablets, computers and tablets will out weigh devices such as video game consoles and drones. As always thank you for trusting us with your devices especially in this difficult time.

For the next two weeks at least Apple has closed all their stores in the US due to COVID-19. This means you will not be able to walk in for any form of warranty work and be forced to do mail in repairs. If there's anything we can help you with we will be here during normal business hours with a clean store and protocols for disinfecting all devices that come through our business. https://www.macrumors.com//apple-closing-all-retail-stores

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have implemented increased device disinfection protocols to do our part in stopping the spread of this virus. Your device will be wiped down with 3 disinfecting products, each of which have been tested to effectively kill human coronavirus. The first product used is Pure Green 24, which is EPA registered, broad spectrum antibacterial, fungicide, and virucide containing silver (0.003%) and citric acid (4.846%). This prod...uct is used to disinfect keyboards, palmrests, top cases, bottom cases, and phone housings. The second product used is a Lysol All Purpose Cleaner, containing alkyl dimethyl ethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides and ammonium chloride. This product is used on the entire device, including the screen. This is the only product we use to clean MacBook displays, as in certain cases, certain cleaners can damage the anti-reflective coating. On displays without anti-reflective coating isopropyl alcohol mixed with distilled water may also be used. The third and final product used is Clorox Commercial 4 in One disinfectant and sanitizer which contains Ethanol (66.34%) and dipropylene glycol (5.31%) which is used on the keyboards, palmrests, top cases, bottom cases, and phone housings. In addition, our retail storefront counters and workspaces are disinfected daily and our staff members wear protective equipment as well as follow strict disinfecting procedures. All staff is also following proper hand washing procedures as suggested by the Centers for Disease Control. We understand your concern during this time and assure you that we have put the proper procedures in place to protect you and your loved one’s devices. We are here to explain proper device cleaning and storage techniques as well. Thank you for trusting us with your devices!

Happy Valentine's Day!

PhoneSmart 16.08.2020

Most electronics and electronic parts like most other products we buy these days come from China. During Chinese New Year factories usually shut down for at least a week (mandatory public holiday). It often takes 2 weeks however before they are fully back up and running. Unfortunately with the COVID-19 outbreak also known as Coronavirus it's become mandatory for the factories to be shut. As of now it seems that they will remain closed until at least March 6th instead of reope...ning Februrary 2nd as planned. This means there will be a shortage of cell phone parts in the next months. At PhoneSmart we've prepared by ordering a couple months of inventory of common parts ahead of time to try and keep prices the same as well as be prepared to offer repairs until this crisis is over. However, when these parts run out there may be delays for repairs as well as possibly higher prices. All special orders for parts that are not stocked will also incur delays and possible price increases. While it's never a good time to break your phone we recommend making sure you have a good protective case and screen protector (like the Otterboxes we sell here at PhoneSmart). If you are in need of a repair (especially models other than iPhone) we suggest you come in sooner than later and not let the problem get worse when supplies may be low. For anyone concerned about parts or products being contaminated this is the statement from the World Health Organization. "People receiving packages are not at risk of contracting the new coronavirus. From experience with other coronaviruses, we know that these types of viruses don’t survive long on objects, such as letters or packages."
