Our #Yokogawa CQ1 Benchtop High-Content Analysis System is installed and currently being used to capture beautiful images like these! Here, we see adipocytes differentiated into brown fat and stained to highlight their lipid droplets (Green=BODIPY), mitochondria, (Red=MitoTracker) and nuclei (Blue=Hoescht). The CQ1 is also compatible with 3D imaging of organoids, spheroids and tumor fragments. Contact us today to learn more! https://phenovista.com/contact-us/ #highcontentscreening #adipocytes

While the community regrets and supports the cancellation of SfN 2020, PhenoVista would like to dedicate this week to neuroscience and share some of the neurosphere antibody staining and masking we have performed in collaboration with StemoniX. These figures show the localization of the astrocytic maker GFAP throughout a neurosphere and our ability to image and segment the nuclei in neurospheres from a maximum intensity projection using the nuclear marker DRAQ5.

Tomorrow is World #CRISPR Day, a celebration of the powerful gene editing technique highlighted by the recent #NobelPrize award. Here we utilized CRISPR gene knockout in a tumor cell line to assess phenotypic changes in cell health and morphology using an unbiased approach called #CellPainting. Masking for Target antibody-negative cells (indicated by colored overlay) allows for quantification of changes in Cell Painter dyes of knockout vs WT cells within the same well. https://crisprmedicinenews.com//world-crispr-day-october-/

Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, and all of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One driver of many breast cancers is disruption of the normal DNA damage response (DDR), which can be exploited as an Achilles’ heel by certain therapeutic agents such as PARP inhibitors. Here we show induction of DDR in tumor cells in response to etoposide. https://nationaltoday.com/metastatic-breast-cancer-awarene/ #breastcancerawareness

PhenoVista would like to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of our Senior Laboratory Manager Erika Martin. As the first employee (after the founders), Erika’s extensive experience in imaging and stem cell biology adds value to our clients. In addition to heroic management of the 3-ring circus that is a growing biotech company, her sunny personality (and coordination of donut deliveries) makes PhenoVista a fun place to work!

PhenoVista would like to congratulate Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna, recipients of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on CRISPR. This powerful genome editing technique has quickly become a mainstay of functional genomics and has the potential to dramatically impact human health and the environment. Here we collaborated with Synthego to utilize CRISPR gene knockout of a target in a tumor cell line to assess phenotypic changes in cell health and morphology using a modified Cell Painting approach. https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/chemistry//press-release/ #CRISPR #Synthego
