Tips to keep teeth healthy over the holidays Never use teeth as tools to open packages and bottles. We know you’re excited to rip into that gift, but your teeth are not the right tool. Gripping a package with your teeth can crack them, possibly requiring a root canal or crown. Don’t crack nuts with your teeth.... The hard surface of most nutshells can cause serious tooth and gum damage and may even crack teeth. Shell nuts before snacking on them. Avoid chewing on hard candy or ice cubes. Crunching on hard candy can lead to cracked or chipped teeth, which are painful and pricey. Whether you are enjoying a sweet candy cane or finishing the ice in your holiday cocktail, let it dissolve naturally. Also, hard candies promote tooth decay. Schedule Your Post-Holiday Checkup & Cleaning Now You can schedule your post-holiday cleaning and check-up now, so the moment the holidays are over, you can help your teeth stay clean, bright and cavity free from day one of the New Year.

Diabetes & Oral Health Did you know diabetes can also cause problems in your mouth? People with diabetes have a higher chance of having periodontal (gum) disease, an infection of the gum and bone that hold the teeth in place. Periodontal disease can lead to pain, bad breath that doesn’t go away, chewing difficulties, and even tooth loss. Diabetes can also slow down healing, so it can interfere with treatment of periodontal disease.... Dont Wait Call us to make an appointment today!!

Brushing Teeth Too Hard It turns out that brushing teeth too hard can be an issue. You may think the harder you scrub, the cleaner they’ll be. But you may just be damaging your enamel and pushing your gums away from your teeth. This can push back your gums and expose the roots of your teeth, leading to tooth sensitivity and possibly even the need for gum surgery. There are a couple of correct ways to brush your teeth. 1.Always use a soft-bristled head... 2.Never press. The brush only needs to touch the teeth. 3.Where to brush. Be sure to brush every surface of every tooth. That means the backs and fronts, plus the bottoms/tops of your molars. Also brush the backs of your back molars. See more

Happy 4th of July 2020

PhD Dental Inglewood 12.07.2020

It’s Time for Fireworks, Fun and Family! We celebrate American Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. While you are celebrating, it’s easy to engage in some not-so-tooth-friendly activities. To help you avoid a dental disaster, here are 4 tips to stay safe while celebrating. 1. Water, Water, and More Water: Drink a lot of water , rather than sweet, sugary drinks like juices and sodas.... 2. Your Teeth are NOT a Bottle Opener: Please don’t use your teeth to pull the cap off that beer bottle! 3. Eat Healthy: it will help your teeth and your waistline as well. When you eat sugary foods (which by the way, BBQ sauce is loaded with sugar), the decay-causing bacteria inside your mouth multiply. 4. Chew Sugarless Gum: daylong snacking is going to happen. Snacking can be bad for your teeth because you’re not brushing between snacks, Sugar-free gum with xylitol is the best choice, because studies have shown xylitol interferes with the production of bacteria in your mouth. ATENCION!!!
