Peyton's Project 21.06.2021

We’ve come so far yet not nearly close to far enough. We cannot stop until there is a cure.

Peyton's Project 12.06.2021

Rare-like a . Today is Rare Disease Day. Earlier this week I was asked to speak to a Mom of a newly diagnosed child. My heart breaks for them as I know exactly how they feel but my advice is always the same. Your child is a rare gift. It’s almost unexplainable how much better this child makes your life and how amazing they are. There are people that will leave your life and not support you on your journey. Let them. There will be people that enter your life that you ne...ver could have imagined. Let them. Only take in the information you need at the moment. Don’t let the rest stress you out. You have no idea what your child will need or what modern medicine or even technology will be like when you get there. Always trust your gut. You know your child better than anyone. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, question the plan and even change it. Peyton is the best advocate. We have never kept anything from him. I understand that may not be the norm and that’s ok too. Do what you think is best. Peyton is convinced he is going to change the world. If you know him, you know he can. We are grateful every day for our rare gift. #rarediseaseday See more

Today is giving Tuesday. We know you have options and so many people are in need. The challenges are exponentially greater for our terminal and disabled kids. We appreciate anything you can give to help us continue to provide for them and search for a cure. Thank you in advance from all of us at Peyton’s Project.

Thank you so much to everyone who made a donation. We are humbled by your generosity. Tuesday is Giving Tuesday and while we know there are so many charities in need, we would be grateful to have you donate to Peytons Project. There is so much to do it’s overwhelming. I look Peyton in the eye every day and tell him how blessed I am to be his Mommy and I mean it. He is a gift. BUT I am still so scared. We must find a cure. Each time I see a new person join one of our DMD pages my heart breaks. I know what it feels like to be newly diagnosed. It sucks. Thank you to all of you who have continued to support us throughout the years. We will never give up the fight.

We have amazing news! Peyton’s Project is an official charity partner with the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon. Please start training and join us March 21, 2021 at the start line. A few months ago, the organizers of the Los Angeles Marathon asked Peyton’s Project to return as charity partners. Due to COVID, we were a bit apprehensive to commit. However, we had our first official meeting with the Los Angeles Marathon and they have committed to an actual race, not a virtual run. If COVID concerns limit the ability to hold the Marathon in 2021, our entry fees will be available for the following year (2022, 2023, or 2024).

Peyton's Project 04.10.2020

Today is World Duchenne Awareness Day. We have been very silent on Peyton’s Project since the LA Marathon. That day was empowering for Team Peyton’s Project. We were elated. Challenging ourselves to complete the Marathon, knowing that kids like Peyton challenge themselves daily. That one day of pain is nothing compared to what they go through daily. We were so blessed by an incredible team that pushed us and everyone who donated to Peyton’s Project. For all of you, we ...Continue reading

And now for something good in this world. Southwest Airlines surprised Peyton Marquez and Ethan Marquez with a welcome home and send off to UCLA where Peyton was being admitted for surgery on his broken leg. From the time Peyton and I pulled up to the curb at the airport in New Mexico, the employees took complete care of us during a very stressful situation for us as parents and painful for Peyton. They brought the wheelchair to the curb where Peyton's Uncle could lift him ge...ntly out of the car because Peyton was terrified of being moved then wheeled him though security, allowing me to go with his as well, where we met up with his Dad who had just arrived from LA to turn around and get him back home. This was the on top of their customer service. We cannot thank them enough for the kindness they showed us. Especially Peyton. A small gesture goes a long way. We've always been fan of the airline but we are team Southwest for life now. THANK YOU! See more
