Tune in tomorrow to hear our conversation with Michael Dimock.
We were happy to participate in a grower discussion about covercrops in avocados.
A look at our covercrop program.
Looking forward to the discussion. Join us!
This resonated with me today more than usual. Spent the morning trying to find ways to make our irrigation system, fertilizer program and soil health better. The quest to get better never stops.
This week, Farm Lab will be buzzing. With harvesting, student visits, insect activity and spring blooms, there are countless ways for students to learn from SEE...AG - Students for Eco Education and Agriculture education orchard Petty Ranch. We will be learning about the water cycle and exploring the effects this rainy winter has had on Ventura County crops. As the days grow longer and warmer, we will be using all of our senses to understand the connection farmers have with the earth. We encourage you to get out, get your hands dirty and plant something this spring or simply revel in the beauty and abundance our state holds. See more

Food, shelter and clothing are basic human needs. We can't help you with shelter. But if you buy a Petty Ranch t-shirt, you will get a very stylish article of clothing, and we will put the proceeds toward new avocados trees that will produce food for years to come. 2 out of 3 isn't bad! https://www.customink.com/fundraising/tees4trees

We are proud to have our friends from Food Forward visiting us Saturday morning to glean lemons from trees that are being retired. Should still be room to volunteer if you want to join in the fun.
For the average person, the rising temperatures and frequent floods scientists tell us could arrive in the next few decades still seem very far away. But for some farmers, that potential future has to be reckoned with today,
