Today's rain causes the roads to be slippery and increases the possibility of vehicle collisions in our community. Please remember to turn your windshield wipers and headlights on for extra visibility. Obeying the speed limit and using your turning signal will allow for safer streets and highways during this time. In intersections where the power is out and street lights are in operable, treat it as a four way stop. Thank you for your patience with other drivers as the weather makes safe driving more challenging. Please report vehicle collisions or accidents to 9-1-1- immediately. #Traffic #petalumapd #obeythespeedlimit #drivesafe #notonmywatch #rain

Community Message- Expired Prescription Drop Off According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, over 81,000 drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States in 2020. With the isolation and external stressors associated with the COVID-19 pandemic it is not surprising that our agency's calls for service related to drug abuse and overdose has increased. Our goal for 2021 is support the reduction of opioid use in our community by sharing resources and information ...with the public. We would like to thank the community for their dedication to disposing of expired prescriptions. Your efforts help reduce the chances of unwanted drugs inadvertently ending up into the wrong hands. While our lobby and disposal box is currently unavailable, you can drop off your expired prescriptions at the 389 South McDowell Blvd Safeway in Petaluma. Always call 9-1-1 in an emergency. While 2020 was one of the most challenging years we have ever experienced, we accomplished much and are proud of our organization and the community of Petaluma. Over the past 12 months we have said goodbye to a number of amazing employees and welcomed many new ones. We have proved that we are prepared as a police department and a community to handle any emergency or disaster that may arise.
