It always exciting when big boxed trees are delivered to a job site - it feels like you're getting a first glimpse of what the yard is going to transform into! (And I love the rich blue grey colors in the leaves of these trees! One of my favorites.) #landscapedesign #construction #building #trees #adayinthelife #exciting #almostthere #perfectcirclegardens
Sometimes all it takes is a little something different on your desk or your counter to make it feel like a special spot. Snipped a couple pieces of succulents from outside and tucked them into a pot that needed a refresh. Now my office desk (and me!) will have something cheerful. #impromptu #oldtonew #succulents #creative #indoorplants #havingfun #enjoyingthemoment #perfectcirclegardens #plantdesign
A funny thing happened this morning, and it was a little bit of a mystery to solve! As I walked around the gardens, I noticed that one of our low wire fences was mangled and bent over, I also noticed several broken branches on one of our little apple trees in the same spot. Maybe someone fell over onto the little tree and grabbed the branches for support? Hmm. Then later when I was harvesting some nectarines, right there in our planter was a wedding reception centerpiece!?! A...nd the crowning element in the middle of the centerpiece was a very large wine glass!! Ohh, it all makes sense now. Wedding "after-party" in our front planters, anyone? Haha! They must have had a good time. So these apple were harvested from the broken branches (and a couple extra just for fun!) So that is the story behind this little morning harvest! Mystery solved. I love seeing the aloes in bloom! Such stunning, unexpected flowers! And what a great time of year to bloom - when a lot of other plants are "resting".
Savouring the garden's last few "summer" tomatoes and basil! We had a little bit of brie cheese in the fridge so we melted it over rustic style bread and then piled it up with salami, & our tomatoes and basil picked from the garden. Then we poured some olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the top. Such a yummy treat!

I got a chance to drive down a very quiet, back mountain road this weekend. So calm. We stopped to enjoy the views and did some hiking. Makes me love the simple beauty of California's native plants! (Click to see the photos)
Enjoying garden abundance today. Feeling incredibly thankful and hopeful.
I love this backyard! It has everything - a great sunken patio with lovely rectangular fire pit, a covered patio with dinning area, fountain for background sounds, lounging areas and built in BBQ, plus soothing grass areas and lovely trees. Ahhh, bliss! (And fun inspiration!)
