Everything about this podcast rocks. In this episode veteran affiliate owner Eric LeClair asks excellent questions of the owner of CrossFit Crown City, JB Fitts. Questions pertinent to any service industry affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. What are you doing to keep your business relevant and viable when "business as usual" is no longer an option? At Perennial Strength, the majority of our clients are still training with us online or through remote programming, while we wait until the quarantine lifts.

Blog post is up... such a spectacular adventure! I hop the pictures do it even a tiny bit of justice. Enjoy! Many thanks to my friends and coaches, @the_athleticsacademy @griggstrongnutrition @thegames2014 for their guidance and recommendations #4runneradventures #4runnertrdpro #4runnerglamping #sanjacintopeak #idyllwildcamping #hikingadventures

It's a tradition, every year I share my very favorite rendition of this classic Christmas song. Enjoy!

This is brilliant! Who can’t benefit from a little extra structure to make sure we get in enough fruits & veggies, especially after the holidays? Count me in!

I filmed this clip originally to show my coach @the_athleticsacademy the overgrown status of #RazorbackRidge then decided to just send a few images. That left me with this unneeded video. So I thought I’d share just how harsh it sounds when I push myself on even a short but steep climb like this one. Almost 14 years ago to the day, I quit smoking, after 25 years of heavy daily smoking. My lungs will always labor on climbs and my voice will always sound rough. It’s the pric...e I pay for the live I lived. It’s also the daily reminder of why I never stop training even when I don’t have some huge goal looming. I know that as long as I stay relatively physically fit, the severity of the damage I’ve done recedes, or at least doesn’t progress. Maybe it’s closing in on 60, but I’ve at least temporarily lost my zeal for competition, so it’s a bit harder to motivate myself to push out the boundaries of my fitness. This video is a visceral reminder of my past just waiting to encroach on my present. It explains why when I get asked (surprisingly often) what I’m training for, the only answer I can give, is a high quality life and the ability to keep climbing Razorback when ever asked. #ExSmoker #NicotineAddict #KeepTraining #AlwaysBePhysicallyReady #NoVictimsHere #ThankGodforHisGrace #SecondChance

Always great to work with an adventurous client. Once a week I get to take this one out for a bodyweight only workout to a park, quiet neighborhood or local trail. Always hard, good fun that is never quite the same. #fitnessandfun #clientcenteredprogramming #whatyougetwhenyoutrain #anexcircusperformer #alwaysbephysicallyready

Notice how specifically Whoop is able to track the variances in my effort. The workout was run 2min @ 85% effort, followed by 2min @ 65%, for 5 rounds, rest 5min, and repeat for a total of 3 cycles. This graph reflects how well my cardiovascular system is adapting to the stimulus. This weekend I plan to write a blog post expanding on my training, these stats and the results from my annual physical. Spoiler alert... my weight, bone density, blood sugar and cholesterol levels have all improved. Very good news for a woman in her 59th year on the planet.

I so love adventures, especially with friends! There is no greater benefit of my fitness than being able to say yes when invited to join an athletic challenge. Sure, I was the oldest and least strong... in some events, but not all. None of that actually mattered, we all worked crazy hard, shared the burdens and laughter and came home exhausted, filthy and grinning ear to ear. Thanks to @teamcrossfitacademy and @the_athletics_academy for creating such an epic adventure! #alwaysbephysicallyready #fitnessmotivation #perennialstrength

Last night I took my first ever women’s self defense class. It culminated with this attack. It was surprisingly easy to go there, but not so easy to be effective, especially while not cussing. (My inner warrior must be a demented truck driver.) Thanks to @1sherocks for finding us this golden opportunity and @socalkenpokarate and Justin Barra for giving us a glimpse of your powerful world. #fitnessmotivation #stayaware #stayalive #badthingshappen #alwaysbephysicallyready #nooneiscoming #itsuptous

Anyone who’s done a cardiovascular time trial knows they’re miserable. It doesn’t matter the distance or modality, it only matters that you’re focused on improving from your last test. Today it was a one mile run. Long enough to not be a sprint, short enough to hurt like the dickens. I shaved 17 seconds off my last test. That’s a pretty big improvement, but with a 9:43 result, I still have tons of improvement ahead. #callousyourmind #dohardthings #alwaysbephysicallyready #disciplineequalsfreedom #nooneiscoming #uptome

Generally speaking, my clients prefer I not post about their training. The exception being this fabulous woman @foxy_kush_bae who embraces visual media. Laura is the only Massage Therapist I use or recommend. She is the absolute best!

When she started a few years back, her goals were to simply improve her blood test results and get stronger. Throughout, I’ve been encouraging her to seek out fun ways to stay engaged by using her increasing fitness. She recently came up with the goal of completing a sprint event with biking and running (and swimming, which she declined for her first race.) This is a huge goal given that she has almost no experience running or riding... or competing! We’ve spent the last f...ew months introducing her to the sport of running and basic mechanics (in addition to her regular strength training.) This morning we ran for 30 minutes solid and she passed the two mile mark. Well beyond her prior experience but also well within her ability level. She was quite skeptical and a bit worried before we started, but now both 30 minutes running and two miles distance are part of her experience. By the spring she will be well readied for her 5k... both physically and mentally. As for the bike... she bought it and is slowly getting comfortable riding on the weekends. Once she had gained her confidence, I’m positive that the 15k distance will come easy.
