Urgent Update - 2019 Fresh Olives It is with heavy hearts that we reach out to you to let you know as of 3:00 P.M. today, September 23rd our Fresh Olive Season has officially ended at GreatOlives.com. We are unable to get laborers to pick our olive trees which has left us in a heck of a bind. Olives have to be gently hand-picked, gently, not stripped or dropped on the ground and retrieved later. Since olives are a soft fruit, they can bruise easily if not handled or picked w...ith care. To give you an idea of how bad the situation is, on a good season, we received 300 - 400 boxes per day. This year we were lucky to get 200 boxes a week. We tried everything we could to get additional laborers. All orders placed before the shut down will be delivered. Unfortunately, we will be unable to accept any new orders. As we feared we are having a slight issue with seasonal olive pickers. Olives are coming in slow from the laborers that are willing to work at reasonable rates. As soon as we are able to get enough runs we will turn fresh olives back on for sale.
