Coming into your quiet place of being, bring yourself fully into the presence of the Beloved, not expecting anything, only coming to giveof yourself and your time. Give freely, and allow yourself to simply be with the One who loves you. Let your spirit roam where it needs tolet your courage emerge to help you. Bless your life for all that it is. Megan Don, Meditations with Teresa of Ávila: A Journey into the Sacred (New World Library: 2011, 2005), 7375.

Our outer world and its inner significance must come together for there to be any wholenessand holiness. The result is deep joy and a resounding sense of coherent beauty. What was personified in the body of Jesus was a manifestation of this one universal truth: Matter is, and has always been, the hiding place for Spirit, forever offering itself to be discovered anew. Somewhere in those depths of silence I came upon my first experiences of God as a loving presence that was always near, and prayer as a simple trust in that presence. Cynthia Bourgeault, Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening

There’s a Spanish proverb that says More grows in the garden than the gardener sows. This idea revealed itself shortly after the completion of the labyrinth and the adjacent dry creek bed when a killdeer made a nest, laid eggs and raised her young at the site. Killdeer have been in residence since that time. What an unexpected addition to our church family!! Near the nest, Killdeer distract predators by calling loudly, bobbing, and running away. Killdeer are some of the best-known practitioners of the broken-wing display, an attempt to lure predators away from a nest by feigning injury. Should you visit the labyrinth (and I hope you do) please be mindful of the wildlife and do not disturb the eggs or the parents.

Even with the noise of a busy street adjacent to the Labyrinth, one can enter, walk, and experience an inner silence while walking the solitude path. In the journey, you deepen your faith and connection with God, and can find healing.
