Please see this important local COVID-19 Order Update for SLO County. Our County is slowing the spread of COVID-19. As a result, more businesses can reopen indoor operations with modifications and capacity limits. Metrics monitored by the State of California show that SLO County met the State’s thresholds for moving forward in the Blueprint for a Safer Economy for two consecutive weeks. The risk of COVID-19 in SLO County has been downgraded from widespread to substantial, and... SLO County can now move from the purple tier, the most restrictive tier, to the red tier. Counties are only allowed to move forward one tier at a time. Businesses that can reopen and activities that can resume under the red tier should review the State’s COVID-19 guidance for their industry at readyslo.org. Personal Care Services. Personal care services, like nail salons, tattoo studios, and massage therapy, will be permitted to reopen indoors at 25% capacity. Restaurants. Restaurants will be permitted to move from outdoor-only operations to limited operations indoors (max 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer). Places of Worship. Places of worship will be permitted to move from outdoor-only operations to limited operations indoors (max 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer). Movie Theaters. Movie theaters will be permitted to reopen their doors with limited operations indoors (max 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer). Gyms and Fitness Centers. Gyms and fitness centers will be permitted to move from outdoor-only operations to limited operations indoors (max 10% capacity). Schools. Schools will be permitted to reopen for in-person instruction once our county has been in the red tier for at least two weeks. While we celebrate this small success, we must stay vigilant and health officials warn of a potential backslide as new COVID-19 cases spike this week. Our progress depends on each person in SLO County. We need everyone to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please wear a cloth face covering, stay at least six feet from others, stay home when you are sick, avoid social gatherings with people outside of your social bubble, wash your hands, and get tested. Together, we can stay safe and improve our local economy if we work hard enough at it.

Today is a tragic day. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will forever be missed. Her advocacy for women’s rights and equality has left an indelible mark on our US history. RBG, you will be missed.

Thank you San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation for providing this quality updated tenant FAQ for our community. "In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been several new and changing laws related to evictions, at the local, state, and national levels. The most recent protections for tenants come from a California state bill known as AB 3088 (the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020) and from a national eviction moratorium imposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.) How these laws interact to protect California tenants remains a bit unclear, but this resource will hopefully provide some answers to questions you may have as a tenant in San Luis Obispo County."

What is SLO County’s plan for reopening? See the plan, published yesterday, below. Keep in mind that it won’t go into effect until Governor Newsom lifts the Stay-at-home Order.
