The Winter 2017 Issue of The Quarterly is finally out in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angels. I have a few spreads in it along with the cover. Pick one up wherever you find your magazines and check out the rest of the shots and amazing articles.

So last month I was contracted to shoot a couple of spreads for The Quarterly magazine. A magazine that is circulated in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles CA. One was for the cover and a 2 page spread for a pecan pie and cookie recipe, and the other was for famed chef Joachim Splichal. If you live in the San Gabriel Valley, you might have gotten a copy of it in the mail, but if not, here are the spreads and the individual photos from those shoots. So here is a timeline of #SolarEclipse I shot the other day. Went out at 7am to Angels National Forest, found a great spot, and followed the eclipse. I must say I was in aww the whole time. To witness this was really an amazing experience. I can't wait for the next one in 2024. So this is Trump's official Presidential photo. Wow, where do I begin? Despite that it was shot with a 10+ year old camera, this is a terrible photo. Not that gear makes a difference in skill, but one would assume that if you're going to shoot the president of the United States, you would be using the best gear you can get your hands on. Secondly, the focus on this photo is off. His eyes are not sharp, it seems like the focus point is on the brim of his nose. Now that wouldn'...t matter if you are using a deep depth of field, but they shot this at f2.8 witch is extremely shallow. Even the flag pin on his lapel is out of focus, something that every president proudly wears and I think is a key prop in the Presidential Photo. Onto the lighting, o wait, there is not lighting. To me it looks like they used no external lights at all. Now they shot this at 1/320s. With a 10 year old digital camera I don't know if they would be able to do a high speed sync for a flash. Now about Trump himself. He looks like he does not want to be there. He just looks angry and burdened with the job of being President. His shoulders are hunched, his neck is tucked in, this is not a flattering/powerful pose for the President of the United States. Finally got back from a Snowboarding trip to #Tahoe and and finished processing my images. Had some amazing stops along the way, so I naturally had to stop and shoot a few pix.
