The Historic Pasadena Lawn Bowling Club would like to welcome our newest member Linda Pretzel-Roberts. Linda may be new to our club but not new to lawn bowling. She comes to Pasadena from the Laguna Beach Club, where she was a member of Team USA and headed the Women’s Southwest Division. Linda, welcome to the Birthplace of California Lawn Bowling!
A beautiful weekend to learn the art of lawn bowling! We had 3 first timers here at the Historic Pasadena Lawn Bowling Club. They had a great time. And it turns out, took to the sport very well. You can get a free lesson too! Show up Saturday 8:30am. Wear flat shoes (no heels). We have instructors and bowls for you to use. Give it a try!
More action in the Singles Tournament at the Historic Pasadena Lawn Bowling Club. David Salazar defeated Lee Patrick Sullivan 12-10. Salazar jumped out to an early 7-1 lead, but Sullivan started clawing back pulling within 1 point going into the last end. Sullivan decided on this hot Pasadena day to try and take advantage of his opponent’s 90 year age, and the fact it was hot and Salazar was playing his second game of the day. Sullivan put the jack as far away as possible. But to no avail, Sullivan’s plan failed as the experienced Salazar put a bowl right next to the jack to seal the victory. Salazar will now play Graham Roby. With two losses, Sullivan becomes the first player to be eliminated from the tournament.
More action at the Historic Pasadena Lawn Bowling Club’s Singles Tournament. Shawn Dellis defeated defending champion Ted Bailey in a second round game. Dellis pulled out to an early lead and never looked back. Dellis will now take on the Mike Casey - Sam Schoenberg winner. Bailey heads to the loser’s bracket to take on Frank Duarte for the right to fight his way back to the championship.
Lots of Singles tournament action on a perfect 72 degree SoCal morning at the Historic Pasadena Lawn Bowling Club. In the early game Linda Pretzel-Roberts defeated Lee Patrick Sullivan 12-11 in an exciting back and forth game. It was tied 11-11 going into the 14th and final end, when Pretzel-Roberts put a bowl within inches of the jack. Sullivan’s last bowl got a nice wick and looked promising, but fell a few inches short giving Pretzel-Roberts the victory. Linda will now play Marc Rich in a third round game. Sullivan goes to the losers bracket to take on David Salazar.
