We were told in medical school that a doctor should always sound as though he knows what's going on even when he doesn't. That was the end of my medical career.... Because on the farm without electricity that I spent part of my childhood on, we call that lying. I couldn't see myself lying to people and collecting money for doing it. I could see saying to them, well, I don't know the answer to that so let me see if I could find out and I'll come back and if I could find out, then I'll tell you. There, the view was you're an expert. Experts are supposed to have answers. For an expert to say I don't know undermines your credibility, your expertise. I don't think that's true.
