We continue to distribute critical supplies and meals to families. Since April 2020, we’ve distributed 16,093 boxes of food. With each box providing a family of four with at least two meals per day for one week, PLN has distributed nearly a million meals! Rick and Tina Caruso, and their children Justin, Alex, Greg, and Gianna, have been a part of the PLN family for over two decades, advocating for the education and wraparound support we provide. Each December, the family brightens the holiday season for some of our littlest learners. As part of our Felices Fiestas distribution, long-time partner Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation donated more than 1,000 books to students! We appreciate the support in fostering a love of reading in children and youth.

Ma Guadalupe enrolled in our Youth Workforce Services program to prepare for and obtain her high school equivalency diploma. She aimed to obtain a job and continue with school. After much studying, Ma Guadalupe passed her high school equivalency exam! Her PLN Career Advisor, Brenda Sillas, encouraged her to enroll at Evans Community Adult School where she continues to take ESL courses. Brenda also encouraged and helped Ma Guadalupe apply to PLN's open COVID-19 Community Educa...tion Ambassador position. After the interview process, Ma Guadalupe was offered and accepted the role! As a Community Education Ambassador, Ma Guadalupe supports the Innovations II program to educate and provide resources to the community to stop the spread of COVID-19. Ma Guadalupe is happy she was encouraged to step out of her comfort zone. She is so excited to be a part of the PLN family.

Over the weekend, we hosted a 2020 Felices Fiestas Drive-Thru event at three locations! PLN families drove through the parking lot to receive a food box with two weeks' worth of meals and a gift bag of toys, books, and a gift card. Though the event may have looked different than in previous years, staff and families enjoyed participating in the holiday celebration and greeting one another from a distance. #ExcellentEducation #PowerfulFamilies #StrongCommunities
