This dog was found somewhere near Highway 99 between Oroville and Chico. He may have escaped from his owners during fire evacuation. He was recently groomed, we know someone is missing him. Please help us locate his owners!

Black Beauty Monkey is a 3 year-old female long-haired beauty. She has big saucer-shaped yellow-green eyes that will steal your heart. Her black fur is long and silky and is accented by a thick smoky ruff around her neck. The picture simply doesn’t do her justice; you’ll have to come visit her and see for yourself! Monkey is a little shy but readily accepts petting and is purring in no time. You can meet her at the Paradise Animal Shelter, located at 925 American Way, open Tuesday-Sat from 11:00-3:00. Hope to see you there soon!

PASH Original Founder Passes Away Margaret Jane Schwenger (Marge) passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in Chico, CA at the age of 97. Marge was an avid animal activist who volunteered many hours at the Paradise Animal Shelter. Marge founded Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers in 1986. Marge and her friend Gene Paul, along with generous donations from the community, supported the Paradise Animal Shelter for many years, paying for propane, food, bedding and other... necessities. According to her friend Pati Diridoni, Marge was the "animal's angel" who always went above and beyond to do the best for the animals of the town. Marge's passion for dogs was well known in the Paradise community. Especially her love for Katie, her latest pet dog that went missing during the Camp Fire and was never found. After the Camp Fire in 2018, Marge was relocated to the Terraces Independent Living facility and eventually the Compass Rose Memory Care where she was loved and cared for with kindness and compassion from all of the staff and residents. Marge was a feisty, loving kind woman who loved animals, enjoyed the outdoors and her home in Paradise. She always wanted to get back to Paradise and rebuild. Thank you Marge, for founding PASH, and for all you did for the animals during your lifetime. Your good works will live on.

If you love black cats as much as I do you’re going to want to go down to the Paradise Animal Shelter and meet these furry felines. Princess, Fiona, and Nikki are a little on the shy side, but if you go into their kennel with a cat toy, you will have them playing with you in no time. They are 7-8 months old, and still have lots of kitten in them! The shelter is located at 925 American Way, and is open from 11:00-3:00, Tues-Sat. The girls will be waiting for you!

They won’t be available for adoption for a few weeks, but you can come visit them now at the Paradise Animal Shelter at 925 American Way. The shelter is open from 11:00 - 3:00, Tuesday - Saturday. There are other cats and kittens available for adoption too!
