Here are 5 quick tips to help you look good & feel good. 1. Wake up every morning and step outside before you look at your phone. Take deep breaths, filling your lungs completely and emptying them complete as well. Gaze at the whole sky in awesome wonder of how lucky we are to be in this human experience another day. Say three things out-loud that you are thankful for. ... 2. Stop washing your hair so much. Use dry shampoo. If you don’t like the way dry shampoo makes your hair feel then apply at night, braid, and brush thoroughly in the morning. Remember ALL dry shampoo’s ARE NOT created equal. Try a variety until you@meet your new BF. 3. Never envy anyone, know that everything you need is already inside of you and you are worthy of good things. 4. Upon knowing I was going to be an only parent to the most amazing gift I could ever imagine, my son, I started saving every penny I made. I had a cute little duplex in San Jose and with the help of a few friends, I did my best not to die of fear an anxiety knowing I was about to embark on a new life as a mom. In the nine months of being pregnant I was able to save a mere $18,000 here in the Bay Area we know that’s not much. I hung on to that money for a couple years thinking... I may have to use it for any unexpected expense my son may need. After my son turned two I realized that with $18,000 hoarded I was just still a broken finger away from losing my nest egg. I decided to take a risk for my son and I and open a salon. I had been doing hair do 15 year at one of the most beautiful salons I’ve ever seen, with a boss and co-workers that loved and supported me. I took this jump, not because I thought a salon was a great investment that was going to make a bunch of money, but because I wanted to put the fruits of my labor, that I held on so tightly to, into something that could grow. The journey has been amazing, stressful, fun, thrilling, over-loading, painful, exciting.... some real soul food and it has grown me into the women I am. In this process and over the 4 years of having my shop I’ve heard a LOT of advice, some helpful, some not so much. I’ve learned a LOT as well, some from experience, some from others, some from mistakes. I’ve watched people come into my salon and catapult into success. I’ve gained new friends, I’ve lost some.... I’ve watched my business inspire people to move on and do their own thing and supported them. I’ve had people support me or on the flip side steal product from our shelves while on camera with no shame.... the highs and lows they keep on a comin’...... such is life! Here’s what I do know, as long as I have breath, I’m grateful! My tribe is taken care of. I’m gettin the opportunity to home school my son. I’m taking this opportunity to work on my shop. I have plenty of ideas of how I could make money for the shop if need be (at home haircolor, products delivered to your door, tons of Painted Lady Merch on deck)
