WE GOT THE GREEN "TEAM" LIGHT: Volunteers Needed for 60 minutes! This is a special cleanup! We will be at Power Poles on Samoa Beach, BUT, we are also going to send a REMOTE crew out to address the LARGE abandoned camp off of HWY 255 at the Woodly Island exit. The Power Poles cleanup IS a family/dog friendly cleanup, HOWEVER, the abandoned camp off HWY 255 is NOT family/dog friendly.... ABANDONED CAMP CLEANUP: There are needles and other hazards at this camp. Knowing that we are looking for people to help us out with that camp. Between 8:45am and 9:00am you must check in at Samoa Beach (Power Poles) first. Then you can head to the HWY 255 abandoned camp. You CAN’T park on HWY 255, you need to take the Woodly Island exit and park off HWY 255. POWER POLES CLEANUP: This weeks cleanup will be located at the Power Poles on the Samoa peninsula, which will be the first right turn once you hit the beach heading South on New Navy Base Road. We will be focusing on beach, parking lot, roadsides, and we will also have a remote team hitting up the spots in between the three bridges on HWY 255. That is our section of Adopt-a-highway. We will meet at the Power Poles parking area at 8:45 am to sign in for both cleanups. We will start the cleanup at 9:00 am and it will end at 10:00am. We meet for a group photo and raffle at 9:45 am. We look forward to seeing everyone there! Tell your friends, share the link and show some love!

Before/After: Remote team cleaning up an abandoned camp on Vance Ave. yesterday! Great job Jacey Spies, Chris Galleron, Pam Halstead, and Ted Halstead! This camp was at the edge of Humboldt Bay.

Cleanup Details: This is always an important cleanup for us due to how close the litter is to Humboldt Bay. So, THANK YOU, to the volunteers that showed up and saved all that litter from hitting Humboldt Bay and going out to the ocean. We also had a remote crew out on Vance Ave. dealing with an abandoned camp right next to the water line. They pulled out close to 1,000 lbs of garbage. Great job Jacey, Chris, Pam, & Ted!... Lastly we discovered a LARGE abandoned camp right off the highway, on the North side of the road, right before you take the Marina exit. This camp has 2,000 3,000 lbs of garbage and 100+ needles. We are trying to come up with a strategy to address this spot very soon. Stay tuned and follow us for updates and details. Volunteers: 26 Weight: 1,250 pounds approximately, dozens of single use plastic coffee cups, couches, picked up 25 needles (doesn’t include what we found at the abandoned camp), lots of cigarette butts, In&Out trash, and more! Time: 60 minutes Sponsor: California Trailers Post Cleanup Raffle Items: $30 Gift Card to Picky Picky Picky Store and $10 Gift Card to Applebee's Grill & Bar

Found an abandoned camp today just across the first bridge heading from Eureka to Samoa. Located on the North side of the road right before the exit to the marina. We are guessing around 2,000 lbs of trash and 100's of needles. Hoping to organize a special cleanup at this location soon! It's SO close to the Bay!

"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart." -Elizabeth Andrews Pick up garbage while enjoying our local wildlife at this cleanup! We will meet at the Woodly Island parking lot, then break out into groups to pick up between the three bridges.
