We on the Worship team have been moved by the way the greats of Hollywood who have died in the past year are remembered at the Oscars. There is something soft-spirited and touching about watching well-curated images of those we’ve lost. In that spirit, appropriately on Memorial Day weekend, we will show the faces and lift up the stories of members and former members who have passed on over the last two years. We are hoping and expecting this to become an annual Pacific Unitarian tradition, one that accompanies our pattern of inviting those who come to our Halloween/Day of the Dead service to bring a picture of a loved one to add to our ofrenda/altars.

In this joint service, we gather together with six UU churches to our south for a collective service that celebrate and marks the 60th anniversary of the merger of Unitarians and Universalists.

More than 60 percent of the members of our community are women. Roughly two thirds of that 60 percent are mothers. On this Sunday, we turn over the pulpit to the experts on the subject our own member mothers who want to talk about the hardest, most poorly paid, but rumored to be the most fulfilling job in the world.

We all need to work towards ending racism and moving toward a more culturally diverse congregation here at PUC. It's what we are about - acceptance and equity for all. Be on the lookout for several communications from the Transformation Team in the next few weeks.
