Pandemics sure stink but your feet don't have to! Feet often get a bad rap for being smelly and most people believe that is simply a fact of life-False! Foot odor is often caused by improper foot hygiene or excessive perspiration. This combo can provide a breeding ground for odorous bacteria. With over a quarter million sweat glands in a pair feet, these bacteria are often well-fed. Some helpful tips on preventing this embarrassing condition start with the basics-clean your f...eet thoroughly every day. Ensure to scrub your feet with soap, then rinse and dry them completely afterward (especially between the toes). Employing a good foot powder to help control perspiration will go a long way. Avoid wearing Nylon socks or boots. Find natural-fiber socks, or "wicking" materials that will dry the perspiration away. Find breathable shoes. If odor persists, call your podiatrist for a consultation and more suggestions. Sometimes it takes specific antiperspirants, antibiotics, or other medications to get the job done. Now is a perfect time to get that foot odor under control before we go back out into the world (hopefully soon). Together we can defeat COVID19 and Stinky Feet!
