The Pacific Cetacean Group was a California based non-profit organization 501(c)3 originally founded in 1994 by Daniela Maldini & Tom Kieckhefer. Our mission was to inspire conservation of marine mammals and other marine life through research, education, and later the arts. This organization was created as a long-term dream by a network of marine scientists and educators in the Monterey Bay area (DR. STEPHEN F. BAILEY, Lisa Smith Beasley, Nancy Black, Steve Blair, KRISTI BROC...KWAY, DANIELA MALDINI-FEINHOLZ, EDWARD F. HEWITT, KATHY HOUGH, DR. THOMAS A. JEFFERSON, Carol Keiper, THOMAS R. KIECKHEFER, Jane King Silberstein, SUE LYNN KONOPKA-REIF, CANDIDA L. KUTZ, DR. Jonathan Stern, Richard Ternullo, DR. MICHAEL TRAPANI, D.M.V, and Larry White). PCG research, education and art programs focus on marine mammals and their ecology. Our primary goal was to offer people a unique opportunity to study marine mammals and marine ecology by participating in some of our long-term research. We invited the general public to explore the vast array of knowledge of marine mammals and their marine environments, from estuaries to the open ocean, through our research, education and art programs. In Mexico, this fish is more valuable than cocaine. But it is other species that are feeling the cost.

The second-most endangered small cetacean on the planet, the Atlantic humpback dolphin, now has its own website: https://www.sousateuszii.org/ This species is l...isted as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Gillnets are thought to be the greatest cause of mortality for the species, although direct hunting and loss or degradation of nearshore habitat are also likely to be driving decline. Hopefully they will not follow other species, like the vaquita, to the brink of extinction. See more
