Register at bitly.com/PCDidactic12622 Niki Khanna MA, MFT is a psychotherapist and educator in the Bay Area, CA. Her focus is working within the Queer, Trans and Intersex communities. She is also a certified Sexual Health Educator and has spent over 20 years working in Sex Education, Sexual Assault and Rape Prevention Education as well ...as Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Education. She identifies as a Femme, Intersex, and POC. She is passionate about finding ways to use the skills she has developed to contribute to the Intersex community. She provides workshops and mental health support to both the AIS-DSD Support Group/ InterConnect and InterAct, two of the largest Intersex support and advocacy organizations in the country. She also sits on the board at interAct. Her current projects are developing practical training modules for mental health providers working with Intersex clients and their families and writing/editing a chapter focused on Intersex for a forthcoming textbook on trauma within the LGBTIAQ+ communities. Course Description: This course is a basic overview of the principles of Gestalt therapy. Gestalt therapy is a humanistic, holistic, person-centered form of psychotherapy. Understanding of these principles is part of the California MFT Licensing Exam.

Accepting Applicants for Pacific Center’s Living Fully with HIV Group A free 9 week social justice process group for adults living with HIV Tuesdays 3:30 - 5 pm PST, February 8 - April 5, 2022 via Zoom Click here to apply... Living Fully with HIV is a recurring Ryan White funded therapy group occurring via Zoom through the Pacific Center for Human Growth. We will discuss topics ranging from Shame & Stigma to Intersectionality. This group is free for folx living with HIV in Alameda County and who are eligible for Ryan White Services. All Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QTBIPOC) are strongly encouraged to apply. Group is led by a Black, queer clinician who focuses on non-traditional modalities of healing and co-facilitated by a white, trans, queer and social justice oriented therapist. RSVP: bitly.com/PCDidactic11322 Course Description: Trauma Informed Care (TIC) - Growing understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and progress in the development of effective interventions to support trauma survivors have increased dramatically in the last decade. From this growth in the body of knowledge, models of TIC in care hav...e risen to meet the challenges of providing effective psychotherapy to those most at risk of suffering the physical and psychological impacts of trauma, particularly in managed and community based settings. In response to provider burn out and high turn over in these setting TIC also aims to improve the working conditions of clinicians and staff exposed to high levels of trauma in their work. This training explores and defines research, theory, and best practices of relationally centered TIC to support providers in implementing TIC in their work to improve client outcomes, instill hope, as well as prevent burn-out. The roots of racism run deep and impact us economically, educationally, physically and in many other ways, seen and unseen. What is often overlooked are the mental health impacts of Race- based trauma. Self-doubt, hypervigilance, imposter syndrome, anxiety and depression are some of the impacts people of color face. In this training, participants will learn the definition of Race-based trauma, how it presents and how individuals and communities can take steps to heal. Instructor Bio: Chris is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years experience working with youth and families in Honolulu, Sacramento and Los Angeles. Chris started his career at the YMCA of Honolulu, then had stints as a mobile Crisis Therapist providing suicide and homicide lethality assessment and intervention on the island of Oahu, and worked as a Hospice Social Worker in Sacramento. He is a proud graduate of the California community college system, having graduated from Sacramento City College with two Associates degrees before moving to Hawaii where he obtained a B.A. in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University, and later an M.S.W. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Since 2014, Chris has supervised the Looking Ahead program at the Actors Fund, which provides supportive counseling and enrichment activities for child professional performers and their families. Additionally, Chris is a therapist in private practice and is credentialed as a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP). He has a passion for youth suicide prevention and has led workshops on suicide prevention, adolescent mental health and coping skills in California, Hawaii and Japan.

Pacific Center is pleased to share our new schedule for Grief Groups for 2022. Grief Group is a support group for anyone dealing with loss due to the death of a loved one. Sessions run for 8 weeks. Grief Groups are facilitated and co-facilitated by a combination of LIcensed and Associate Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT/AMFT) and/or pre-licensed Clinical Interns.
