Pacific Drive School

Open House at Pacific Drive School on May 3rd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. -Our PTA prepared and sold delicious tacos, nachos, popcorn and a variety of food items along with beverages. -Our library technician, Linda Oaks, sold books at a very low price. There were many famous titles from a variety of genres to choose from. -Mrs. Baker's Project Discover students sold lemonade to help PTA raise money for school field trips. -Our terrific teachers and student teachers (CSUF & ...Biola) displayed excellent student work and projects in the area of mathematics, language arts, social studies, science, engineering, art, integration of technology, coding and programming! -Thank you to our community for joining us this evening to celebrate student learning and achievement! -In addition we announced our upcoming school wide focus on Computer Science and Innovation (CSI) Pathways! Our entire team wore the new CSI tee shirt for the 2017-18 school year! Our families left campus with a Dolphin shopping bag and note pad as a reminder of our CSI Pathways! GO DOLPHINS!

Go Dolphin Hockey Team! Our 4th graders participated in the Ducks Street Hockey Tournament on Saturday, April 8th, at Hermosa Drive School. Several Fullerton schools participated in the annual event where FSD and private schools go head to head in the hockey rink. We're proud of our boys and girls who represented Pacific Drive School. They played well and learned valuable hockey strategy and skills.

Dr. Pletka, FSD Superintendent, visits Pacific Drive School! He visited all of our classrooms and chatted with students and teachers. Dr. Pletka was most impressed by the rigorous lessons teachers were implementing and the high student engagement! He congratulates our progress in the academic areas, our RtI intervention and our Project Discover programs!

Celebrating Read Across America and inviting our students' VIP to the classroom was beyond fun at Pacific Drive School! We kicked off our morning with refreshments and goodies for our VIP guests provided by our PTA members. We all gathered for our school wide Spirt Assembly and Mr. Cogan, Mrs. Dunn's husband, read Green Eggs and Ham, an all time Dr. Seuss favorite! Miss Grover announced a drawing opportunity for a beautiful Dr. Seuss quilt she made this past summer. All of the proceeds go to purchase students' favorite books for our school library. We thank all of our school community members for participating in this family event!

Congratulations to Mrs. Smith our 2017 Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Smith has been a teacher at Pacific Drive for over 27 years and is an innovative and caring teacher. She is well respected among her colleagues and loved by all of her students and parents!

Thank you to the Hope International University Women's Soccer Team for conducting a fantastic soccer clinic at Pacific Drive! These young women worked all morning and taught our students soccer skills and guided them through several soccer games. WE LOVE THE ROYALS!!

Our Annual FSD Innovation Experience event was a success! Mrs. Chow and Mrs. Smith showcased thier students' work on desert biomes and creating games using a coding application, Scratch. It was exciting for our students to share their learning to several students, parents and community members. To add to this evenings excitement, Pacific Drive School received a $20,000 grant from the Fullerton Educational Foundation (FEF)! This grant will support our focus on Computer Science and Innovation projects. We're sincerely thank the Fullerton Educational Foundation for their generous grant!

Our kindergarten students, staff and parents celebrated 100 days of school! They participated in fun activities that required counting to 100. Our students and teachers also dressed up as if they were 100 years old and that was lots of fun to see! We also had a very special guest, Mrs. Hopper, who is 100 years old! Mrs. Hopper is Miss Laura Grover's grandmother and she visited our upper grade classrooms. Our students did a wonderful job interviewing her and finding out the secret if living a long healthy life! Playing baseball and eating everything in moderation is what has kept Mrs. Hopper fit and healthy!

We appreciate our partnership with Hope International University! Several HIU students rolled up their sleeves and helped clean our campus. They cleaned the windows and our playground. Thank you for helping us keep our campus beautiful! Go Royals!

Dr. Pletka visited Pacific Drive and spoke with several students about their Coding experiences, listened to teachers about monitoring student success and met Jeffrey Tran, 6th grade student, who is learning 7th grade math from his teacher, Miss Grover!
