Excellent review by Nagendra S, via Trip Advisor Best izakaya in SF As an Izakaya, Pabu fulfills its promise in perhaps the most complete way in the San Francisco market. There are numerous izakaya in Japantown and the financial district, but none better than Pabu in food quality, sake depth, and overall experience. The quality of the raw seafood at Pabu, including sashimi and sushi, is excellent, some prepared in traditional edo style and some with a modern twist. The excell...ent array of cooked foods, tempura, robatayaki, and composed dishes, is generally expertly prepared. The sake list is likely the deepest in the Bay Area and is curated and offered with real passion for the art, science, and craft. Excellent review by Gary Carino, via Google I've been here a few times and have to say that Pabu does not disappoint. Their nigiri is delicious. The Foie Gras nigiri is like nothing I've ever had before. My wife does not like liver, but she loved it. She wasn't expecting anything like what it tasted like. We did the tasting plus the sake pairings as we were there to celebrate my wife's graduation from Grad school. I'd say it was a little pricey but, the food was fantastic. We... ended up having 9 or so pretty full sake pours, and looking back that may have been a it excessive. I'll include pictures of most of the courses we had. (by the end i had too much sake and forgot to snap pics, lol) I would definitely go back and will always get at least 1 order of the foie gras nigiri.
