Manahuu. We invite you to come join us! The Inaugural Indigenous People’s Day will be held in Los Angeles on Monday, October 8th. This will be the first official Indigenous Peoples Day event since the City of Los Angeles replaced Columbus Day last year. We’d love to have Nüümü well represented at this event. It’s important for Angelinos to know where the water comes from that they use daily and how water exports affects Payahuunadü. There are several activities happ...ening including a sunrise ceremony, 5k run/walk, powwow, movie screenings, panels, and parade of tribal nations. Shannon Romero designed a Payahuunadü parade banner that we will carry in the parade. Please consider showing your Nüümü pride by joining us in the parade and wear your regalia if you have it. Also, we understand that there will be free live music by Redbone and Black Eyed Peas. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-inaugural-los-angeles-indi We are setting up a booth at Grand Park to educate attendees about our people and the water history of our valley connecting us to Los Angeles. Volunteers to help in the booth are welcomed. In addition, we are honored to be invited to join the Gabrielino/Tongva on Sunday, October 7th for their Kihaayy Paar Kuruvungna Celebration of Water at the Kuruvungna Springs site at University High School (1439 South Barrington Avenue, West Los Angeles, CA 90025). This is a family fun event with dancers, music, storytelling, workshops, craft making, children activities, and artifact displays. All are invited to attend. http://gabrielinosprings.com/wpsite/ Please consider traveling to Los Angeles to join us at these two events. Let us know if you are planning to attend so that we can communicate parade and other logistics. #Payahuunadü #WaterIsLife
