The first-ever Resort-Wide CanAm event is quickly approaching! What better way to embrace the CanAm Tournaments than to have exclusive event merchandise on during the friendly sporting matches. Watering and Overseeding Schedule With fall approaching, we will shortly begin backing off the water to the turf to get it ready for scalping. We will then be overseeding with our winter rye and turning the water back on to help the new seed take root. Since the irrigation stations are not separated from the turf to the planters, when the water is off this means it is off to the planters as well. As the temperatures will be cooler, especially at night, this process typically ...does not pose a problem for the established plant material. However, we do recommend that if you have a gardener that they hand water or look after the landscape. Vintage will also be looking our for struggling landscape and hand water those areas that need it. Welcome to September! Hard to believe that summer is almost over! Temperatures here in the desert are still hot with today and tomorrow forecast to be 112 degree. We are continuing to work on the resort to get it ready for the returning owners and opening day in November. We have completed areas such as replacing the trees in the front entry, resurfacing the LP tennis courts, and installing new artificial turf in the dog run area. Most of the pool and spa resurfacing that we ...are doing is complete with the exception of ES. They are working on adding the quartz surfacing now. We anticipate adding water toward the end of next week and will then add the chemicals to get the pool correctly balanced. We anticipate it being open and ready for use on September 20th. If you are in the resort, please look out for posted signs to see if it is ready! We have also awarded the contract for the ES kitchen remodel and the work is scheduled to start Monday. The project is estimated to take approximately 6 weeks but is expected to be ready for welcome back. It is a later start than we hoped as we submitted our first set of plans to the city in April but some unexpected delays in the plan checking process has pushed out to starting now. One other small project that was recently completed was the removal of sand and sediment in the main irrigation lake on the golf course. Many of you will remember the small "island" that developed as a result of the run-off generated by our huge rain storm in February. See the picture below that contains all the sand pumped out to it. Welcome to August! Hard to believe but we are moving thru summer quickly. Temperatures here in the desert are back to being pretty normal with our next five days forecasted to have highs of 115 degrees. All in all it has been a mild summer comparatively speaking! In other news, we are still progressing on projects. All of the tennis court resurfacing has been completed. One other project that is recently completed is the new turf for the dog area by the maintenance yard. I ha...ve received some inquires of the type of turf and how the product was installed. The turf is called K9 Grass and is made specifically for dogs. Dirt was removed from under the old turf and K9 Grass installed their own infill to allow for maximum drainage. We are now working on plastering many of the pools and spas which were in need of being done. This includes the pool and two spas at ES. As a result, the ES pool area is now closed. For those residents still in the resort, we will be opening Satellite D and F for use while ES is closed. Please note that at Satellite D the spa is being resurfaced so only the pool and restrooms will be available for use. We anticipate ES being reopened for use will be August 30th. We will be posting notices in the pool area for updates for this in the resort so please be on the look out. There are some other projects getting ready to start shortly. The first is the trees and lighting in the front entry median. The other is the replacement of the kitchen equipment in ES. See more

Moving right along.

As we move into mid September and closer to "season" the weather has cooled a bit but we are still hitting record highs for this time of year, including 115 degrees last week. The good thing for us "full-timers" is it has been cooling down into the 70's at night. Despite the continued heat, the progress continues on the projects. Tile installation at the ES pool area has been completed, and all that is needed now is to add the coping around the pool and the grout the tile. ... As for the Pickleball courts, the new lights have been installed and the fence painting at the courts will be completed today. The new PB courts are being prepped and the paint for the lines and surfaces will be starting this week and should be ready for play in about 2-3 weeks. Once that is done the windscreens will be added. In addition, the pavers in the breezeway at ES are being laid out and will be completed this week. At La Palma, the footings for the sun shade structure are completed and the columns are due to go in early next week. Then, the pavers between the tennis courts in the breezeway will be installed toward the end of next week. On the tennis courts, the fence has been lowered, the new lights have been installed and the painters will move over to paint the tennis fence once they are done at ES.
