OUR Cal Poly Pomona 14.01.2021

"I was shocked and saddened to see the U.S. Capitol under siege today. This horrendous scene was an attack on our most fundamental values as a nation. Today may... cause us to doubt the ties that bind us as a nation. I plead with you to not despair. We can overcome even the most bitter division." -University President Soraya M. Coley Read her complete statement about today's events in Washington D.C. here: https://www.cpp.edu///hold-fast-to-our-shared-ideals.shtml

I have had a lot of barriers and challenges in my life, starting from being an undocumented student, a first-generation student, and a minority... It is because of these challenges that I gained the skills to be successful, and I wouldn't have any other way. - Karina Villa Ortiz Karina is a Philosophy major from Cal Poly Pomona-College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences, devoted to social movements that strive to liberate and advance the social, economic, and political ...positions of immigrants and other marginalized communities. A major goal for Karina is to help establish an inclusive environment where marginalized students feel more comfortable practicing philosophy. Karina was working closely with Dr. Katherine Glasdaglis to search for answers on their research question: What does intersectionality have to say about the oppression of men? They aimed to focus on problematic assumptions within certain theoretical frameworks, including certain models of intersectionality. Read more about her research journey: bit.ly/UR-profile
