In a very difficult year @kettlertaylor closes it out with a win! First in his division and lost the open by reff decision. He should have got 2 points towards the end but that’s the way 2020 has been! Can’t wait for 2021!! Repost from @kettlertaylor Had a great week in Florida spending time with family and friends. It was unfortunate that my wife @annakettler13 was not able to do her Ironman this weekend because it was postponed but we found other things to do. Also, competed at the IBJJF Orlando open winning the Ultra-heavy division and taking 3rd in the open class. With businesses closed down we took a moment to reflect on where we are, and where we want to be as a company. What starts as a hobby for many of us, can take many turns. For some it isn’t for them and they’ll quit. Jiu jitsu will be something they once did a long time ago. For others it will always be a hobby, something to do after or before work. Jiu jitsu will eventually become a part of their life, like walking the dog or going to work. They will always enjoy jiu jitsu and the friends they make will be more rewarding than any medal or promotion they may receive. Then there are ...those that their passion and dedication for jiu jitsu over take their life. They don’t do jiu jitsu they live it. Their lives are filled with the lowest lows and the highest highs. Their sacrifice, day in and day out, will largely go unnoticed and they will have to endure countless heart break. In the end, they will have chased their dream, whether they succeed or not the journey almost always changes them. @ermesonrogeriobjj falls into this category. This election will be like none in our nations history. We should see record voter turn out as the candidates could not be more polarizing and our nation still faces an unprecedented pandemic. In my house, we have discussed the candidates for countless hours, watched the debates and did our due diligence. In the end we will each vote for different candidates. There is no argument, no name calling, we love America and we are voting for the candidate we feel will best lead the ...country. When it’s over, whoever wins, we will stand by our POTUS and hope he leads us to a better tomorrow. As a nation we need to come together, now more than ever. I did know Helio Gracie, as he was responsible for teaching @pedro_sauer_ who in turn taught @rylanlizares who in turn taught me. Lineage is important and the sacrifices of those who came before us should never be taken lightly. They paid the price for... their knowledge with blood sweat and years. In filming Terere and walking through the Flavela it made me realize how fortunate we are in America. Living in Brazil we get used to seeing poverty, the kind no one should be ok with. It made me realize I need to do more to help.... If you live in America and life isn’t working out right now, know it can always be worse. As long as you are alive change can happen! #BLESSED #NEWDAY #NEWOPPORTUNITY #LFG Eu estava me sentindo mal por não ter um calçado, até ver o homem sem pés. Ao gravar o documentário com o Terere e andar pela favela, me fez perceber o quão grato eu devo ser de viver nos Estados Unidos. Meu coração estará sempre no Brasil, e eu espero que possamos continuar a evoluir como um país para que um dia a gente olhe para outros países e agradeça a Deus por morarmos no Brasil.

A week before my trip an opportunity came up and although it was a hard decision it was the right one. Instead of spending my time at the beach with my friends or in the gym, I spent majority of my trip learning and understanding the journey of the legend Fernando Terere. In talking and s...pending time with him I did find a new perspective. We spend our lives trying to build a life that we think is important. We often neglect our physical and mental health but these should be the things that matter the most. No matter how much money or success you have, if your mind isn’t right none of it matters. Work hard, have a plan, but also take some time for yourself. Take a deep breath once in awhile and be glad to be alive, I know I am. #MENTALHEALTH #MENTALWEALTH #TERERE @tererebjj @ossclothing Originalmente, eu fui para o Brasil para relaxar, pensar e botar minha vida em perspectiva. Uma semana antes da minha ida uma oportunidade apareceu e apesar de ter sido algo difícil para mim, no fim foi a decisão certa. Ao invés de estar com meus amigos na praia ou na academia, eu passei a maior parte do meu tempo aprendendo e entendendo a vida dessa lenda, Terere. Conversando e passando tempo juntos eu consegui achar uma nova perspetiva. Passamos uma vida toda tentando construir a vida que achamos ser a ideal, e assim, frequentemente, abandonamos nossa saúde física e mental, o que deveria mais importar. Ser rico ou bem sucedido é insignificante porque se a sua saúde mental não está bem nada disso importa. Se esforce, tenha um plano, mas sempre tire um tempo pra você. De vez em quando é importante respirar fundo e estar feliz por estar vivo, eu sei que eu estou.
