Ms. Plazola here. Looking through some old pictures and started thinking about pictures I had on my old MySpace profile. After resetting passwords to old emails from like 10 years ago, I was able to log back in and recovered some old pictures! Most of these are from 2007-2009. I know there were older pictures on MySpace, but I can’t access them. I think the files are inaccessible at this point. Who knows what program I used. ... Calling all alumni in the health care profession! Ortho is hosting a Health Career Fair & is need of alumni in the Health Care profession that would be available to speak to parents in the morning session about how they got to their profession and explain what they do. They need someone available to speak for 1/2 hour in the morning on 11/21/19 between 9:15am to 10:15am.... They also need someone to speak to students for 45 minute sessions, hopefully for all three sessions from 12:42-3:08pm or up to 3 alumni for 45 minutes each. If anyone is available and willing, Ortho will hold its Health and Science Careers Fair on Thursday, Nov. 21st and is in need of speakers. It would be great to have alumni share their experiences with our current students. This is also open to anyone currently in school working towards a degree or licensed program in health or science careers. We are looking for alumni to help as guest speakers in the classroom or presenting info about their work organizations in the MPR. We... are also hoping to have speakers in the morning during a Coffee with the Principal meeting. This is more geared towards parents. Please take a look at the flyer attached. This week, Dr. Jennifer Beck had the honor of addressing the graduating class of Orthopaedic Hospital Medical Magnet HS. She told the seniors "don't let anyone ...tell you something is impossible" and to "find something that will make you want to get out of bed in the morning and spend the rest of your life doing." These two pieces of advice have served Dr. Beck well and will hopefully do the same for the graduates. We want to send our happiest congratulations to Class of 2019. We cannot wait to see what these esteemed individuals do with their bright futures.

Ortho held its 10th Grade Community Health Messaging Project Showcase for the fourth year in a row yesterday. Sophomores presented their Community Health Messaging Projects to their peers, parents, teachers, industry partners, and alumni. Though nervous, students presented their research on health issues common in their communities, discussed the health messaging around these issues, and offered solutions or suggestions for improved health messaging and access to resources. ... Special shoutout to our alumni that were able to join us last nightJuan Hernandez (Class of 2007), Isabel Velasquez (Class of 2013), Daniela Martinez (Class of 2017), and Alejandra Perez (Class of 2017). Dear Alumni and Community members, We are looking for evaluators for the upcoming Ortho HS 10th grade Health Messaging Showcase. We are still seeking a few more... volunteers. SHOWCASE DESCRIPTION: Students will conduct an investigation on the types of health messaging that exists in their own community around relevant health issues with the end goal of becoming informed, critical, and active citizens of their communities. The culminating project will have students present their research, findings, and potential solutions to a broader audience. On April 6, 2019, a group of Ortho Alumni and Faculty met up at our Inaugural Mixer to break bread, catch up, and discuss what the Ortho Alumni Association can become. Thank you to those who shared with us their stories of what life after Ortho has been like! Happy Wednesday Everyone! Today, we want you all to meet Alma Sanchez! She is involved in getting the Ortho Alumni Association established, and she wants you to know why #OrthoAlumni are important. "I want to give back to Ortho because it provided me a space to challenge myself as a leader and an academic. The Ortho Alumni Association is necessary because it will facilitate femtorship/mentorship for Ortho Students, not only in postsecondary plans, but in life skills. Adulting... is hard and the OAA is there to support Ortho graduates :) I serve as the Community Liaison at the OAA, connecting the school staff with the OAA and alumni with opportunities to get involve in the OAA and in the school. My favorite high school memory is going to winter formal. It was my first time attending a school dance and it did not disappoint. I had a great time hanging out with friends, eating a delicious dinner, and dancing to awesome music. During my free time, I like reading, writing, listening to women of color-led podcasts, and trying new restaurants."
