Join Patagonia grantee Ventura Land Trust and their partners on Feb 1 for a community cleanup at Ormond Beach in Oxnard. Come out and help remove litter from along the shoreline to improve critical habitat for coastal wildlife.

Ormond Beach, Oxnard Jan.-Feb. 2020 clean-up schedule Jan. 11th: The city of Oxnard is hosting a community volunteer day from 9am-12pm on Ormond Island at the end of Perkins Rd. off Hueneme Rd. as part of their grant restoration project. That day we will be removing trash, dead plant debris and invasive species.... Jan. 18th: Surfrider and Audubon are leading a beach clean-up at the end of Arnold Rd. off Hueneme Rd. in Oxnard from 9am-12pm. We have two species of endangered shorebirds that nest on Ormond, the California least tern and western snowy plover. Trash attracts predators and these species have been hit hard by predation in recent years. With nesting season just around the corner in March, this is our last chance to get inside nesting areas to remove trash. Rain Policy: heavy rain or winds cancel. Directions: Hwy 101 south and exit on Rice, turn right and continue to Hueneme Rd. Turn right on Hueneme Rd. After Olds Rd. take a left on Arnold and continue to the end of the road to the parking lot. Jan. 25th: Not just Jan. 25th, but every Saturday, from 8:30am-12pm Pt. Hueneme Councilmember Steven Gama leads a beach clean-up at Ormond Beach. Meet at parking lot "C" south of the Hueneme Pier at the Alaska 261 memorial. Feb. 1st: Join Surfrider and The Nature Conservancy from 9am-12pm for a clean-up at The Nature Conservancy's beautiful Ormond Beach property and adjacent dunes/lagoon edge. Meet at the East entrance of Ormond Beach Preserve at 301 E. McWane Blvd. Oxnard 93033. Feb. 8th: Continuing the city of Oxnard’s Ormond Island restoration project, from 9am-12pm there will be a community volunteer day to do a final clean-up of trash and a native seed planting. Meet at the end of Perkins Rd. off Hueneme Rd. Feb. 15th: Join Surfrider and The Nature Conservancy from 9am-12pm for a clean-up at The Nature Conservancy’s beautiful Ormond Beach property and adjacent dunes/lagoon edge. Meet at the East entrance of Ormond Beach Preserve at 301 E McWane Blvd. Oxnard 93033. Feb. 22nd: Not just Feb. 22nd, but every Saturday, from 8:30am-12pm Pt. Hueneme Councilmember Steven Gama leads a beach clean-up at Ormond Beach. Meet at parking lot C south of the Hueneme pier at the Alaska 261 memorial. Note: *People under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their liability waiver. *Feb 1st and Feb 15th, folks/groups with minors will be directed through TNC property to the adjacent Ormond Beach dunes and lagoon edge for their clean up. *Wear close toed shoes, long pants and comfortable clothes. *Please bring a reusable water bottle. *Water, snacks, grabbers and buckets, or bags will be provided. *Questions? Thank you to everyone who braved the winds and came to our fence work day at Ormond Beach this morning! We have removed the entire tide line of the south habita...t (1/2 mile). Awesome job, and hard work! But don't worry snowy plover lovers! We will install a new more eco friendly post and cable fence in a couple months. @ Ormond Beach CA See more
