Lake Tahoe thesis by myself!! This year, my hikes along the pacific crest and Tahoe Rim, I have become super interested in the geology and topography of this region which has been carved by the dozen or more ice ages in last million years! During the ice ages, Lake Tahoe was filled to the Tahoe Rim with a massive glacier with its tail at Carson pass and head at the Truckee/Reno area. This glacier flowed into the Truckee and Reno basin. One branch of this glacier flowed towards lake Almanor and other towards Pyramid lake which. Both lakes get water from Lake Tahoe which probably flows through underground rivers towards them! Awesome!! Stay tuned for more geology thesis on rest of Sierras as I continue to wander along the pacific crest, a high ground to study the topography of this area!!
