The Shed

I finally got around to jar up a bunch of Kimchee. I'm also making a small batch with a high heat level. It should be very spicy and those will be ready in 1 week. While I was at it, I also made some spicy daikon kimchee. This should be ready next week. Since the Shed is temporarily closed due to us still waiting for a building permit, all of the Kimchee will be available for purchase at Red House BBQ right across the street. These are $8.00 a pint. We will start selling them on Wednesday.

Sorry all but, we are still waiting on building permits from the city. We have no occupancy permit. Trying to operate this way is foolish especially since finding an entire staff has been ridiculously difficult. We are available for catering and our catered Poke Bar is pretty popular with businesses. As soon as we receive a building permit, we can then finally hire our contractor to do the install on the dedicated smoke alarm so that we can also get inspected by Kern County ...Fire. After that, we hope the city will issue our occupancy permit so that we can finish decorating and open. I'm very sorry for this and many people know we have been in this process for several months. We just want to hire about 20 to 25 locals, start actual inside dining and be open 6 days a week. We have invested a lot into this place and can't wait to see it up and running. Thank you all for the great response we've had and for your understanding in all of this. We are just waiting. I'll make updates as they come in.

I came into work to make Hawaiian Curry this morning to find that we have no hot water.Due to our Hot Water heater apparently not working. The Shed will not open today so that I can get a new one installed. I'm sorry for any inconvenience but, I will not jeopardize my staff and my customers with the lack of proper sanitation procedures that are required to perform our jobs safely and to insure that our customers remain healthy.

Red House BBQ and The Shed will be closed tomorrow (Sept 2nd) due to a very large cater. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Both restaurants will reopen at their regular times on Friday Sept 3rd.

This Post is for Layla and Milo's Soup for the Soul Soup Kitchen. Sorry for the late post but, we have been running around crazy!!! Busy start to our Sunday today and then word spread fast what we were serving and this is the first chance I've had to post anything. ... First off, a HUGE "Thank You" to MotorTrend Magazine for the very generous donation today. Both Red House BBQ and The Shed have been catering for MotorTrend out at the Honda test grounds while they are testing all the new SUV's. Today, we did a full on Salad Bar with multiple meats. MotorTrend heard about Layla and Milo's Soup Kitchen and decided that today was too hot for soup so, MotorTrend donated everything needed to do Layla and Milo's Salad Kitchen!!!!!!Hahaha Your custom salad comes with either, Chicken, Beef or Pork. Also a Kings Hawaiian Roll and some fresh cut Watermelon and Pineapple. A drink is provided too. We are serving till 5pm or until we are out of food!

Hawaiian Curry Day!!!! Every Friday we make Hawaiian Curry and offer our popular Chicken Katsu Curry as well as Spam Curry, Fish Curry and our Tofu Curry (Vegan). Don't forget about our Curry Loco Moco!!!!! We have limited supply of Haupia for Dessert!!!!!
