Maimona’s classroom was vandalized with hateful words associating her with terrorism. This was the thirteenth incident that took place at a public middle school in the diverse East San Jose area, a community where Maimona grew up. In response to the incidents, Maimona helped develop and implement inclusive curriculum and anti-bullying policies. She advocated for state legislation and trained educators on fostering safer schools.
