Friendly reminder to practice Self Care. Repost @atc_britt Old Wives Tale: You need to be injured to get treatment by an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist. THIS. IS. FALSE.... Do you only take your car in to get serviced when it's acting up?Well that might not be a good comparison becausesome of you for sure do that.BUT, we know that we should take our car in regularly to maintain it and to keep it running well. Why wouldn't we do the same with our bodies? We are machines.... We ask so much of our bodies. We are working out, walking, standing, sitting, moving, lifting... the list goes on. So why not let someone experienced work on your muscles or joints to keep you functioning at full capacity? Self care is smart! Help yourself out. Let me helpyou. Schedule your maintenance with me today :)I'm here to help! See more

Your hormones are one of the most important regulatory systems embedded in your body. They act as messengers, designed to interact with specific target cells and organs and provoke a change or result. As we age, hormone production changes, and hormonal imbalance can occur. Unbalanced hormones can have a variety of side effects and symptoms such as: Fatigue or lack of energy Difficulty sleeping at night Reduced mental focus and memory... Hot flashes and night sweats Difficulty losing weight Moody, anxious, or depressed Decreased muscle strength and joint pain Chances are if you're experiencing any of these symptoms you've begun the search for what is causing your symptoms and how to feel like yourself again. If you have begun this search then you’ve probably heard about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). Here are some facts about the bio-identical hormone replacement therapy that we offer here at Olympus Movement Performance, to help you make informed choices about your BHRT treatment. At Olympus we have chosen to partner with BioTE Medical to provide hormone pellet therapy to help us provide the best possible outcomes for our clients who are looking to optimize their hormones. The hormones used in BioTE are bioidentical. That means they are identical to the hormones your body already produces. Because your body knows what to do with them, you’re likely to have better results with BioTE than with a synthetic Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) treatment. BioTE uses pure hormone pellets that dissolve completely and produce no byproducts. The blood flow around where the pellet is inserted picks up what it needs when it needs it no ups and downs! Male patients need pellets every 4-6 months. Female patients usually need them more often (every 3-4 months) While everyone is different, we’ve observed many positive results from both male and female patients Head to our website to learn more about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) and to claim a Free Guide! www.olympusmovement.com See more

One of my favorite ankle rehab/ prehab exercises is the single leg balance 3 way reach on foam pad or any unstable surface. This exercise challenges our proprioception, ankle stability and also gets a bit of posterior chain activation as an added bonus. Max Effort Sprints. Hands down my #2 exercise for injury reduction in soccer athletes. Yes this probably comes as a surprise to most of you. But if we don’t expose our athletes to full max effort sprints in training, we are just asking for an injury in a match situation where it is required. ... I think of it as a hamstring protection exercise. I typically use this ‘exercise’ 1x per week for 2-5 reps 30-60 yards depending on our periodization cycle and load volume for the week. #olympusmoveperform #sandiegoloyal #soccerperformance #soccer #doctorofphysicaltherapy #performancecoach See more

Which means that they don't show up on an MRI or CT scan! Repost @completeconcussions Concussion is a functional injury. So, while it changes how the brain functions, it doesn’t change how the brain appears. So, when somebody does a CT scan or MRI, they’re usually looking for something more significant than a concussion like a bleed, or a fracture in the bone of the skull, or actual structural damage to the brain that is visible.... More than 95% of concussion patients do not have any type of finding on imaging. It has been recommended to not routinely image concussed patients unless there is reason to believe that there may be something more significant going on. So if you are a patient who is concerned that your doctor did not order you an MRI...the chances are, it's because it was not necessary. And that's a good thing :) See more
