The Veiled Christ of Sanmartino is an unveiling of Jesus’ entombment even as it anticipates the power & dynamism of his Resurrection. The sculpture not only expresses in marble a reflection on our Lord’s Passion but also answers the question once posed by Pilate, now echoing throughout the Cappella Sansevero: What is truth and where are we to find it? Truth belongs not to the sophisticatedly indoctrinated, nor is It to be found among the intellectually enlightened. It is found in Jesus, who reveals God.
