Tomorrow is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Please light a candle at 7pm tomorrow to remember struggling families and the children they have lost.

What a great day at the Children’s Memorial Garden Saturday! 15 happy volunteers and 3 volunteer kiddos, filled 2 very large flower beds with compost and moved some huge rocks to complete a path. On Saturday, August 15th, five brave volunteers, Archie and Beverlee Park-Sherbo, Justin Zimmerman and Bryan Zimmerman were working hard at the Children’s Memorial Garden. Arborist Christina Hardin donated several days of her time and patience, protecting our oaks and working with the City for permits. The job was almost impossible to complete at 105 degrees, but Archie, Justin and Bryan did the heavy work and kept digging. After 3 1/2 hours they dug a 100 foot trench.. 12 i...nches deep. Their work finally brought water to the Garden! Thank you so much for your work everyone! You were amazing!! We will post our next volunteer work event in the Garden. Many projects are happening at the Ojai Children’s Memorial Garden this week! We need volunteers to keep us moving toward our goals. Pick your project/s! 1st project: We need 2 volunteers tomorrow, August 13th at 1 PM. at the Garden. We will be moving some dried pond muck to the flower beds. (No more than 1 hour)... 2nd project: We need 2 volunteers on Saturday, Aug 15th at 9am at the Garden. We will be digging an 8 inch trench, 100 feet long. You will be joining other volunteers, who will be digging the trench we need and laying down pvc piping for the watering system. (The job will take about 2 hours at the most.) 3rd project: We will need 6 volunteers on Saturday August 22nd to move mulch to the flower beds. (That project will also take less than 2 hours to accomplish.) Please help our community prepare the Children’s Garden for planting in the fall. Let us know if you can be there. Thanks everyone! Hi Everyone, WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Children’s Garden needs 6 -10 volunteers to set up a watering system and move some pond earth and compost to the flower beds. You do not need any experience .. getting the garden ready for planting will be perfect! We don’t have a specific date yet, because of the heat. We do know we need you for 3-4 hours in the morning on a Saturday. Please message us if you can help and we will get back to you ASAP with information. More news! We are moving forward! Thank you to Noah Stoessel for choosing the Children’s Garden as his Eagle Scout project. Noah and his adult leaders and friends from 504 Scout Troop and Army recruitment, worked all day to create a beautiful 60 ft path along the south side of the Garden. Moving the large stones (that turned out to be boulders) from the old path to the new path was an extraordinarily hard job. We are so grateful for their service in making the Children’s Memorial Garden a special place for our Community.

Thank you to all who contributed. We really appreciate all our donors and volunteers.... We still need volunteer gardeners and landscape and pond service providers. Our community is so thankful to all the amazing volunteers who made our Trim the Trees Event such an overwhelming success! Over 35 volunteers cleared the brush, trimmed the trees, and took out the weeds to reveal the strong bones of our Children’s Memorial Garden. AND they did it in 2 hours! A special thank you goes to landscaper Mike Gourley, who took all the debris to Ventura to be chipped.

Hi there. Thank you so much for volunteering to help with the first clearing of the Children’s Memorial Garden. It is going to be a beautiful sanctuary for those who have lost the greatest gift of all. These losses impact far and wide; like ripples from a stone thrown in a pond. The garden will be a place for peaceful reflection and joyous memories. For those of you who don’t know where the CMG is being created, it is directly behind Ojai City Hall, near to the Ojai Communit...y Garden, and adjacent to the pickle ball courts across from the Ojai PD. THE DETAILS: Please arrive on Saturday, Feb 15 at 10am for short informational talk. We will meet at the picnic tables behind the pickle ball courts. Then will get to work in the garden. There will be digging, trimming, raking/shredding of leaves, and fertilizer application. Any garden tools that you can bring (pails, small trash cans, rakes, clippers, trowels, spades, watering cans, etc.) would be very much appreciated. Water and snacks will be provided.
