Orange County Shorinji Kempo 24.06.2021

The half marathon is dedicated to the Truong Family!! (Emily, Nhieu, Lilah, Victor). Emily always amazes us on how much she genuinely cares for the Shorinji... Kempo Orange County branch students. Making 100’s of hand sewn masks, creating a poncho out of Shorinji Kempo blankets and buying wellness bags for other families at the dojo. Thank you for continuously showing great acts of kindness through your actions! It’s truly our effort that define our character in which you continue to set a precedence for others to follow. Gassho! What unites us ignites us to keep the momentum going ! ! ! Through exercise and giving back to our community we learn to stay healthy and live strong ...to build our community. On Saturday March 13th, 53 parents and students practiced Shorinji Kempo and participated in a Charity Walk-Jog-Run! This year Emily Truong (Lilah and Victor mother) selected the Caterina’s foundation for the donation ($820). Caterina’s organization provides food to needy families, stable housing and job training for youth (www.caterinasclub.org). We continue to strive to live HALF FOR ONE’S HAPPINESS, AND HALF FOR THE HAPPINESS OF OTHERS. Gassho! See more

English Follows the Japanese WSKO... Gassho! Shorinji Kempo Orange County Branch students joined our 3rd practice with Shoji Arai sensei from WSKO. We are impressed in Arai Sensei’s detailed explanation of the techniques. The explanations makes it easier to understand the principle of the technique. Many of the students also appreciated that the Shoji Arai sensei opening speech and several technical explanations were in English. The English pronunciation and explanations were very easy to understand. Thank you for leading the way to improve the communication across many countries. Please keep up the great work!!!! Gassho! November 6th, 2020 Shorinji Kempo, Orange County branch held a Single and Pair form Kata Taikai which opened up with 41 students doing meditation (Chinkon), Kih...on Basics followed by 15 black belts performing Tenchiken kata 1-3. The experience to demonstrate in front of others what you have learned builds higher level of self-awareness. Shorinji Kempo training is one of the best tools for building self-confidence. At the end of the Taikai, we held a Kiai contest with the parents. Leah’s, Calan and Eric’s mom won with the loudest and best Kiai ! ! ! Kudos also go to Audrey L, Justin N and Nicholas T who performed paired (Sotai) kata’s with multiple kyu and dan level students to ensure their success. Their genuineness to help sets a great example for others to follow. Gassho! See more
