during the pandemic, we had a chance to fine tune our systems and even implement new systems. One of those new systems is the ability to completely go paperless. We have had positive feedback from our patients and it also is more efficient on our end. Once a patient steps into our office, a quick temperature check is performed and they are immediately ready to go to their treatment room. Finally, the ability to go paperless gives us the opportunity to enhance our environment conditions

***Gum Disease Therapy*** This was a successful case done by our very talented hygenist, Nira. On the first picture there js heavy calculus (hardened form of bacterial plaque) clinging on to the sides of the teeth. This particular patient was losing bone due to the calculus and reported bleeding and swollen gums randomly and while brushing or flossing. By the use of ultrasonic instrumentation, hand scalers, and irrigation, she was able to remove all of the calculus. The second picture is the xray taken after the procedure to confirm removal of all the calculus in between teeth. Our patient now reports a much healthier oral cavity and well being. #dentalhealth #gumdisease #oralhealth #ocdentist #orangecountydentist #costamesadentist #santaanadentist #tustindentist

A rewarding case to treat. After removing all the cavities, 4 all ceramix restorations were bonded in place to recreate an esthetic and natural appearance.

Our office update - - this virus pandemic has definitely affected our office in so many ways. Our staff and patients health and safety is a priority along with quality personalized dental care. As we are now able to fully operate, we have taken proper precautions, according the the California Department of Pubic Health and OSHA, and have implemented some changes. we ask everyone entering our office to please wear some sort of face covering. true hepa-a air filtrat...ion units have been placed in the lobby and in each operatory. They are constantly on throughout the day and night. each staff member and patient will be screened and have their temperature checked upon arrival. Hypochlorous acid (HOCL) is a proven disinfectant that is 80x stronger than bleach and non toxic. We will be implementing this in conjunction with our medical grade sterilization wipes to disinfect the office. after each patient, the use of a fogger machine with HOCL will be used to disinfect the room. an extra oral high capacity suction suction device will also be used on certain procedures. all staff will have appropriate PPE outerwear. We are confident these changes will make our office safe for our patients and staff during these times. Take care and we wish the safety for everyone See more

Oral Hygiene....its ever so important, especially during these times, to maintain a healthy oral environment. The mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body. This includes brushing 3x a day (preferably with an electric toothbrush) and flossing at least once a day. Brands of floss doesnt matter too much. Its more in the technique. Make sure you are performing the C shape technique while flossing. This means that you put the floss in between the teeth and curve it against ...the surfaces of the teeth. All of our teeth curves as it enters the gum level. A lot of people just snap it in and out. So make sure you are curving it. In regards to brushing, make sure you angle your brush at a 45 degree angle to effectively clean your teeth and your gums. Finally, if you are local, feel free to pick up some oral hygiene kits we will be giving away. I know most people are trying to stay away from crowds so we will have some curbside by the door for pickup for anyone that needs. Please call in advance before coming. Take care and be safe.

3D vs 2D in dentistry....Traditional xrays used in a dental office is in 2 dimensions. A lot of things can be diagnosed and seen in 2 dimensions, however, utilizing 3D in certain situations can help dentists diagnose and see things that cant be seen in 2D. For example, if a patient is having pain, Sometimes the infected area doesnt show up in 2 dimensions but clearly is visible in 3D. This makes it easier and predictable to diagnose exactly which tooth is causing the problem. Utilizing 3D imaging technology also helps in the planning of dental implants. In traditional 2D xrays we can only see the bone left and right. But in 3D, we see the bone left and right but also front and back. This is important because from here we can be more predictable in the size and placement of the implant for the specific patient.

Deep cleaning vs Basic Cleaning?... We get calls on a regular basis to our office inquiring how much a basic cleaning or a deep cleaning is. Its always a tough question to answer because everyones situation is so different and a lot of people wonder why a deep cleaning is so much more expensive than a basic cleaning. Whats the difference? A deep cleaning is recommended when there is visible calculus (hardened form of plaque) that is present under the gums. Calculus shows up... on xrays (red circle above). A deep cleaning requires more tools and instruments, and more time to properly treat the gum disease. If not treated properly, one can risk losing their tooth because calculus remains under the gums and causes loss of bone around the tooth. The bone is what holds teeth in place. A basic cleaning on the other hand is recommended when there is no signs of bone loss or visible calculus under the gums. The best thing one can do for themselves is visit a dentist on a regular basis to have their teeth and gums evaluated. See more

There are 3 options to replace missing teeth. a dental bridge dental implants removable appliance (i.e dentures)... Every scenario and patient is different. There are pros and cons to each. For example, a removable appliance is much more cost effective than a dental implant. In this particular case, a dental bridge was made to replace the congenitally missing teeth. A super happy patient was the result! #newsmile #santaana #tustin #newteeth #cosmeticdentistry #costamesa

Invisalign treatment is a great alternative to traditional braces. Without the metal wires and brackets, it is easier to clean and maintain your teeth during treatment. This patient wanted the gaps between her teeth closed. Total treatment time was 7 months.
