We are so excited to be opening for massage for massage this coming Monday, May 3rd and appointments are currently available for the whole month! Please follow this link to book a time with your favorite therapist: https://oceanyoga.com/scheduleaservice. So sorry we do not have any weekend appointments available yet - they will be coming soon! We are also preparing to reopen for small group classes the first week of June. We’re working hard on putting the schedule together, a...nd we will email you an update as soon as we have finalized our planning. In accordance with County and State guidance, we ask that everyone be prepared to continue wearing masks indoors. As you know, we had a high-quality ventilation system in place at Ocean Yoga prior to Covid; and as an extra measure, we have added brand-new air purifiers in every room, and stepped up our cleaning protocol significantly. One of the reasons we have waited so long to reopen is that we wanted to feel confident that we could do so safely, with special concern for the more elderly members of our community. Now that vaccinations are more widely available and infection rates are coming way down, we are feeling so much more secure! We are so excited to see Ocean Yoga rise again after this intensely challenging year, and we really look forward to rebuilding the sense of community that has always been at the heart of Ocean Yoga. See you soon!

Next up in our "Class for A Cause" series, join Janet Nissenson for a 65-minute yoga conditioning/HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) fusion practice! This is an ideal practice to build overall body strength, increase mobility and endurance, nurture stability, and introduce creative, dynamic movements to tone the whole body. The class is fast-paced but low impact so that it is suitable for all fitness levels. The class is not intended to replace your regular Vinyasa or Ha...tha yoga practice, but instead to enhance and strengthen those practices. Expect fun, creative movements accompanied by a modern, upbeat playlist feel free to sing along at home! We’ll begin with a warm-up, followed by five 10-minute segments of intervals (including a 60-90 second recovery), and end practice with cool-down stretches. This month’s class will benefit the American Cancer Society, and the donation will specifically be made in the name of Ron Kino, the founder of Ocean Yoga who sadly lost his battle with cancer last fall. This practice honors his memory, and is dedicated to him and his family. We hope that you can join us for this fun event something just a little different to inspire you, especially if you’ve been feeling in something of a yoga rut or burnout as of late. It’s always a good idea to change up your practice or routine every so often so that you can re-discover your love of yoga and find new inspiration. Register now at the link in our bio! . Sunday, April 18th 10:00-11:05am PDT Online (via Zoom) Donation-based

Our breath can serve as a reminder that life is only possible if the exchange of inner and outer is undisturbed. Letting things in, feeling their impact, and in turn, letting things out, expressing cleanly what we feel, is a spiritual practice that rinses the heart and mind. ~from The Book of Awakening, by @mark_nepo

Can we guide you through some pranayama to relieve stress? Nadi Shodhana or Alternate Nostril Breathing 1. Take a comfortable seat. With your right hand, bring your pointer finger and middle finger to rest between your eyebrows, lightly using them as an anchor. The fingers we’ll be actively using are the thumb and ring finger.... 2. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out through your nose. 3. Close your right nostril with your right thumb. Inhale through the left nostril slowly and steadily. 4. Close the left nostril with your ring finger so both nostrils are held closed; retain your breath at the top of the inhale for a brief pause. 5. Open your right nostril and release the breath slowly through the right side; pause briefly at the bottom of the exhale. Inhale through the right side slowly. 7. Hold both nostrils closed (with ring finger and thumb). 8. Open your left nostril and release breath slowly through the left side. Pause briefly at the bottom. 9. Repeat 5-10 cycles, allowing your mind to follow your inhales and exhales. See more

Schedule update: Although all regular classes will be cancelled on December 25th (Christmas Day), we will be offering a Joyful Flow with Janet from 9-10am! This will be a donation-based class, with all proceeds going to the Pacifica Resource Center. We know that present circumstances may not allow for the usual gatherings of loved ones, so we hope you'll take this opportunity to gather online with our community and share in the spirit of the holiday season (while getting in some yoga, of course!). You can find our full schedule on https://oceanyoga.com/schedule.
