Have you heard about our partnership with MainStreet Oceanside and Stained Glass by Don Myers of Oceanside CA ? Here's a cool little story on how the progress is coming on the massive glass mural in downtown Oceanside! https://www.kusi.com/mainstreet-oceanside-mural-project-in/

Though he got his start about 10 years ago, John just recently picked up glass making again last year going full-force into becoming a glass artist. When we asked him to talk about how he found our glass, he told us I was introduced to Oceanside Glass & Tile at an event for Don Meyers Stained Glass (our feature from September!). When I started working on stained glass again, I was looking for local shops to support and also a place to get glass for my projects. I found Don a...nd he was a great help with some tips and a few materials to get me started. At the event, your company was there and I met Pam who heads up your art glass team. My girlfriend and I made some fused glass coasters and we had a great time. It was awesome to feel like there was a community in my area that was involved with this "lost art" and was even more motivating for me to keep creating. Since purchasing our glass at the event John has primarily used our glass in almost all of his projects! We also asked John what the focus of his work was and what inspires him to make it. He told us, I am drawn to stained glass, because it is somewhat of a lost art and I love seeing the light shine through on a completed piece. I grew up around artists my whole life that worked in different mediums and I loved that glass was a unique space for me. My work has been inspired by experiences that I have had, places that I have been, or things that I am interested in, but my most recent commissioned piece, was a geometric style sun that I really enjoyed making. I admire the other stained glass artists that I have found on Instagram and that has inspired me even more to continue pushing myself to hone my skills and create other different kinds of pieces. If you like John’s work, drop a word of encouragement in the comments below! He’s a newcomer on the social media scene so send him some love and if you haven’t already, go follow his account @stehlestainedglass on Instagram. More photos to come in the next post

Introducing John Stehle of @stehlestainedglass our newest #ArtGlassFinest feature! John is a local of San Diego and an ambassador of our products. He grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and moved to CA in 2011 to pursue a career in the golf industry. Believe it or not, John has not created any golf-inspired stained glass yet, but he thinks it will be coming in the future. When we asked John how he got started he told us A fun fact about me and stained glass is that I stumbled int...o it somewhat by accident. I actually wanted to take pottery in high school, but the class was full. I ended up choosing stained glass as my art elective, a total blessing in disguise! This is where I fell in love with stained glass, but also gained an admiration for other types of glass work. I had a great teacher who recognized my passion and skill for the art and really pushed me to continue making pieces. I then started working at a glass studio, named Creative Glass, shortly after high school. I had access to studio space, materials, and other artists who could help me improve my craft.. Stay tuned for more about John! #glassartist

Any ideas why our clear color takes on a blue hue? Anyone? Bueller? It's because to make clear, we primarily use recycled coca-cola bottles which are typically a blue clear color! In the same way, our Oxygen color takes on a lighter gray/clear color because we use recycled Corona bottles 2x8" Outro from our Casa collection in our Atmosphere Blend #lightandbright ...
