Finishing up the cherry blossom season, always a beautiful time of year here in Japan. Unfortunately, this year was a wet one with the exception of yesterday and I just happened to be near my favorite local shrine.

This week, we had a chance to introduce our program to Japanese Student Association ( JSA ) @ CSULB. This student organization is actively involved with Japanese culture, language, or Japanese in general. -Questions we've received during the presentation. - Do you have to speak Japanese to attend this program? - How's the accommodation in Saga?... - Do you do the program next year? *Answers -No, you don't need to speak Japanese to attend this program. There'll be bilingual staff to help you out with communicating with local Japanese. As long as you are willing to learn their culture, anyone is welcome! - You will be staying in hotels ( double occupancy / with breakfast ). Home stay is another option * depends on availability. - We are definitely looking to do this next year as well. Please feel free to send any questions you have about our program. Peter, here on the Japan side of this adventure. If you have never been to Japan then your truly missing out. There so much packed into this small country, it is both mysterious and majestic. Here are quite a few pictures from a few trips that I have recently taken with my family these past few weeks. As my son will be moving on to junior high school we took a trip to Niseko, which is up in Hokkaido, for a couple of days of snowboarding and tasty treats (tasty food is found all over Japan). Then, as it is spring break, we took a camping trip to a neighboring prefecture Kumamoto, where we spent two nights, great food and hot springs! The last few pictures are of the blossoming cherry blossoms because nothing say spring better than cherry blossoms. International ‘Shower Climb’ event held in Nanayama town, in Karatsu. The event is a professionally organised annual event that involves registered participants walking up a river and climbing up small waterfall sections of the river during the heat of summer. Today, we had a chance to introduce our program to Orange Coast College Japanese Student Association ( OCC JSA ). One question raised was that "Do you have to speak good English ?" The answer is yes and no. You don't need to speak perfect grammar English to attend this program. All you need is to speak good English, good enough to teach non-native speakers. After a winter of hibernating under their kotatsus (a heated low table), with the coming of spring, Japan seems to be coming back to life! Yesterday my children and I were invited to share the afternoon at a local plum orchard to enjoy the nature, some Japanese entertainment, and a delicious lunch. Thank you so much Ohkoba san.
