Virtual Book Launch: A Road Less Paved by Mary Gaffney Friday, September 25th 7-8 PM Local writer and longtime OCA volunteer, Mary Gaffney, takes us on an extraordinary journey from her home in Occidental all the way to Tierra del Fuego, the southern-most tip of South America. Recounting their epic road trips as she traveled with her husband , children and friends, Mary remembers the places and people with great depth and humor.... Join us on Zoom for this Virtual Book Launch featuring selected readings and author Q&A. There is no charge to attend but you must register. Click here to register for the event. Mary Gaffney has lived on the sunny side of the Redwoods of Occidental, CA for over 40 years. She is still there writing when shes not traveling. Her previous work can be found in two anthologies, Cartwheels on the Faultline and Saltwater Sweetwater. Mary has been a volunteer with OCA since its inception.

CALL TO ARTISTS: "Treasures from Home" Oct. 3- Nov. 28 OCA Gallery is proud to announce its upcoming show Treasures From Home an all-media exhibition of artwork by Sonoma County Artists. PHOTO below of 'Henry' by artist Oak Reinier. Entries for this exhibit should feature objects, landscapes, vistas/views, people, animals, heirlooms and other treasured images that provide comfort and joy during our extended Shelter-In-Place of 2020.... Sonoma County artists are invited to submit one piece for this show. An entry fee of $10 is required, and the artwork will be shown in our physical gallery as well as in a Virtual Exhibit on OCA’s YouTube Channel. The physical exhibit runs Oct 3 Nov 28, the virtual exhibit will premier mid-October and be available thereafter (exact date TBA). Entries are subject to OCA’s standard size and hanging requirements, Click here to read our entry guidelines. Due to the restrictions placed on us by the County due to COVID-19, we will not have an opening reception for this show. We encourage you to help us promote the virtual exhibit to your friends and family. We welcome in-person gallery visitors on Saturdays from Noon to 4 PM, masks are required and a limited number of visitors inside the gallery at any time. We will be using an appointment system for take-in, and will be greeting artists with their entires in the OCA parking lot. Entry appointment sign-ups and contracts will be available online by September 8th.
