Be careful where you get pedicures Pedicures are one of the staples of summer, but they can also lead to trouble if you are not careful. When going for a pedicure to a spa or salon, make sure that they are properly licensed and have a clean and solid track record of safety and cleanliness. If you’re uncertain about their safety procedures, be sure to ask. Make sure that equipment is properly sanitized and treated between clients, and that tubs are drained and cleaned before... you dip your toes in for that foot scrub. If you have diabetes or any wounds or cuts on your feet, check with a podiatrist beforehand to be sure that it’s safe for you to get a commercial pedicure. For more tips and information about your foot care needs, contact our podiatrist office at Orthopaedic Associates Medical Clinic today by calling (559) 733-3346 to schedule your consultation. #podiatrytips #podiatryvisalia #orthopedicpodiatry #summerfeettips

Orthopedic or therapeutic pillows are designed to correct body positioning in bed or while lying on any other surface. The most popular orthopedic pillows are rectangular and intended to fill the space between your head and the mattress. Not all orthopedic pillows are intended to support your head and neck however. Some are designed for more unique circumstances, like elevating your legs or back. Why is an Orthopedic Pillow beneficial?... It’s simple really: unnatural bends and twists in your neck and back can cause muscle strains and put pressure on nerves and discs. Your spine is best off when it’s straight. Keep your spine straight and you will potentially avoid agitation and sleep more soundly. Your pillow’s job is to support your head and neck. It, ideally, keeps your body in what is called a neutral sleeping position. A neutral sleeping position keeps all the bits and pieces in your back and neck in in their ideal positions. This helps to prevent unnecessary pressure on your discs, muscles, and nerves. Keep your spine neutrally aligned and you will avoid discomfort. Unfortunately, as we age, the padded discs between our vertebrae wear out and we become more sensitive to our sleeping conditions. Orthopedic pillows can make sleeping a little easier on our sad, worn-out bodies. Contact Orthopaedic Associates Medical Clinic to learn more about orthopedic care, (559) 733-3346

Meet Suzette Garcia, MSHA. Suzette has been working with Orthopaedic Associates Medical Clinic for the past 2 years as the Practice Administrator. She is always proud to mention she started her career as a medical assistant 25 years ago and went as far as getting certified both administratively and clinically. The shoulder joint is the body's most mobile joint. It can turn in many directions, but this advantage also makes the shoulder an easy joint to dislocate. Some can experience a partial dislocation while others a complete dislocation which means it is all the way out of the socket. Both partial and complete dislocations cause pain and unsteadiness in the shoulder. Sometimes a dislocation may tear ligaments or tendons in the shoulder or damage nerves. Your doctor will examine t...he shoulder and may order an x-ray. It is important that your doctor know how the dislocation happened and whether the shoulder had ever been dislocated before. If your orthopedic surgeon identifies some bone damage, he or she may recommend a bone transfer type of surgery.
