Today, April 2, 2021 is what we call Good Friday because it is the anniversary of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. It is good because Jesus bore the sins of all, becoming sin, that we who believe on Him as our Savior and Lord might be made righteous in God’s sight. (2 Cor. 5:21) For many, the year and day of Jesus’ death is in question. But it should not be in question for those who examine the evidence of Scripture, history and astronomy. I offer to...Continue reading

February 13, 2021 Our Oaks Bible Church Family of Santa Barbara, CA, begins meditating on Jesus, Mediator today for the next few days. Here are some of my reflections. I remember the quote that says: Oh God, your sea is so big and my boat is so small. And that begins to describe how I feel about relating to this God who is so huge, transcendent and who seems so way beyond my reach. Yes, I need a mediator.... With Jesus as the lens between God and myself, I can see God as Jesus showed Him to be. I remember Jesus saying to His disciples, If you have seen me, you have seen the Father. God becomes less distant and less huge as I see Him walking through this earth and loving His people. And likewise, with Jesus as the lens between myself and God, the Father can see me as whole, righteous and sanctified because of what Jesus has accomplished on the cross of Calvary. Because of Jesus, the Father God and I can have fellowship and relationship the infinite with the finite and the huge with the oh so small. The late Bob Benson Jr., of Benson Music Company fame, had a favorite illustration that has always touched me. He described a church potluck where he got paired up with the best cook in the church. She brought fried chicken, mashed potatoes, home made muffins and strawberry pie to share. All he had to offer was a somewhat stale peanut butter sandwich. This great woman cook is analogous to the Heavenly Father who has all the riches of glory to share with me. And Bob is analogous to me, who has comparatively little to nothing to contribute. And yet, because of Jesus our Mediator, the Father invites me to share in His glory, and I get the meal of a lifetime. The truth is, God doesn’t need my sandwich. But I desperately need His chicken. Thank you, Jesus my Mediator, for allowing me to share in the marvelous glory of God! May the words of my mouth and the mediations of my heart by acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) Pastor Craig

February 8, 2021 The last few days our Oaks Bible Church family has been meditating upon the concept of Jesus being the Incarnate God as He walked this planet. What a mind-blowing truth to try to wrap your head around! Fully God, and yet fully man. The ever-existing One locked into time. The Almighty in fragile skin. The all-knowing Deity growing in wisdom. The One who knew no bounds of space now confined to a rural countryside. The never-changing immutable One now goi...ng through growth spurts, hormonal changes and puberty. The Eternal God facing immanent death. The Supreme Being submitting to parents and teased by siblings. The Wonderful Counselor being instructed by teachers. The living Word being taught by human rabbis. The Creator of all things working in a carpentry shop. The Prince of Peace surrounded by earthly conflict. Had God never become man, we would never have a perfect human life example to follow. Had God never become man, we would never know how God acted and reacted. Had God never become man, we would never know the extent of God’s love. Had God never reached down low to become man, we would never be able to reach high enough to access God. Jesus is the God-man, the incarnate God who accomplished all this and so much more. Mind-blowing indeed, Pastor Craig

In America today the likelihood that we will suffer for the name of Jesus is greater than it’s ever been. The Apostle Peter in his first epistle speaks directly into our lives today in how we should respond to this type of suffering and how we should be prepared to give a response to those who ask us for the hope we have within us. Join us Sunday in the book of 1 Peter Chapter 3 Verses 13-17 For a link to the service check out our website at www.oaksbiblechurch.com and make sure you join us Sunday at 10 for this amazing message by Pastor Drew!
