Farewell service for Oak Park United Methodist Church which was officially discontinued as a congregation by the denomination. The facility and assets are transferred to Taulanga-U United Methodist Church. Watch their Fb page for updates! They will continue to host Fix-It Cafe for the neighborhood.

Long time friend of Oak Park and OPUMC Mary Jean Hahn's memorial service will be held at OPUMC Friday 1pm. Rev. Robert Jones officiating. RIH

Beloved church mother, Eugenia Thompson Grambling College 1942 -46, recent birthday 93 years old, longtime educator, wife of Sacramento's first Black mortician Vincent "Ted" Thompson childhood and life long friend of Duke Ellington, mother of Sacram...ento Architect , Sac High product and class president during difficult times, UC Davis Board member, International Business owner, real estate mogul Robert Luke. Grandmother of very, very high achieving grandchildren. Most have master degrees she would not have it any other way they honored their grandmother's directive. Mary Hahn, longtime Oak Park church organist, activist, strong women's rights and civil rights voice. Mother of Daniel Hahn, Sacramento's history-making Police Chief, Minnesota land owner with plans of keeping it preserved out of developer’s hands. One of the fairest, most compassionate individuals I have encountered. Eva Moore over 50 year Oak Park resident major part of village concept that produced Chief Hahn. Her children high achievers. She also leads along with Thompson OPUMC crucial and community valued food ministry. She is pictured on stage at the historic swearing in of Daniel Hahn. Oak Park jewels.

Broken Window Theory: Consider a building with a few broken windows. If the windows are not repaired, the tendency is for vandals to break a few more windows. Eventually, they may even break into the building, and if it's unoccupied, perhaps become squatters or light fires inside. Or consider a sidewalk. Some litter accumulates. Soon, more litter accumulates. Eventually, people even start leaving bags of trash from take-out restaurants there or even break into cars. James Q. Wilson
