Our programming series, Lectures at the Library with San Diego Oasis, has a class coming up TODAY at 6 p.m. featuring guest speaker Philip J. Goscienski, M.D. on The Great Influenza & COVID-19. Influenza and coronaviruses are different from each other but the lessons that they taught, the medical advances they spawned and their impact on culture, society and politics have strong similarities. What they are, how they affect us and how they influence medical science continue to... stimulate the intellect. There's still time to sign up, as part of our program series, it's #free to attend! san-diego.oasiseverywhere.org//the-great-influenza-and-co/

Meet Julia Walton, author of "Writing on Bathroom Walls" she's holding a #free writing workshop for teens Thursday, October 8 at 10 a.m. as part of our Write Now weekly writing series. SDPL, Words Alive and the Friends of the San Diego Public Library are teaming up to bring out Write Nowwhere teens can write now about the events right now. Each week will feature a different prompts, from a different author. In preparation for the workshop, write your own letter in which you... apologize for a mistake. That mistake can be taken from your life experience or an imaginary one through the eyes of a character you are developing. Either way, taking ownership of a mistake can reveal a lot about character. Send in your response for a chance to win a free copy of the book and other goodies. It may be free but make sure to save a spot and register! http://www.wordsalive.org/write-now
