Oakland Aviation Museum volunteer Anna, happily preparing our front garden for summer on Earth Day 2021. We thank Frank Wilson for the many gardening projects around the museum including a vegetable patch and fruit trees.

We’re welcoming you backwith open wings. It’s finally happened. Oakland Aviation Museum has now reopened the Indoor Exhibit. Prepare to fall in love with the history of aviation all over again while enjoying some of our newly renovated exhibits. This Saturday, March 13th at 1 PM PST, Oakland Aviation Museum will be featuring a FREE virtual tour of the Short Solent Mk. III flying boat! This steadycam walk-around will take you both outside and inside, including detailed cockpit checkout. See and hear the history of this rare, vintage aircraft. The museum is open for outdoor exhibits only, indoor exhibits remain closed. We appreciate your continued support of the museum and please donate to help us through these difficult times.

A few new-to-you highlights: Improvements and repairs made to the Short Solent flying boat. Museum floors repainted.... Facility repairs and upgrades completed. Aircraft rearranged to allow for special outdoor functions. Repainting of aircraft underway. Collection displays for World Airways completed. Friends of Ken Band will be playing Saturday from 1pm -3pm Safety is everything: Embrace our three favorite W’s: Wear a mask Wash your hands Watch your distance. Just a reminder that our Father's Day Open Cockpit Day scheduled for Sunday June 21, 2020 was cancelled last month due to the Corona 19 pandemic. We will miss seeing everyone, hoping to be able to hold the September 13th Open Cockpit Day. Stay well and safe.

Oakland Aviation Museum is partially open from June 19, 2020.......... Outside Exhibits Only.......... Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm. Inside exhibits will remain closed until the health restrictions are lifted, hopefully in a few weeks. Social distancing and face masks are required. Thank you for your support.

Hangar 2 floor painting is finally completed thanks to Oakland Aviation Museum's dedicated volunteers Frank Wilson, Thien Chau, John Horton and Robert Jones.

Thank you to the Yerba Buena #1 E Clampus Vitus volunteers who spent Saturday May 23rd doing yard work at Oakland Aviation Museum. We appreciate their time and effort after 10 weeks of closure.

Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month is a period for the duration of the month of May in the United States to recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Amercians and Pacific Islander Americians to the history, culture and achievements of the United States. Feng Ru designed and constructed an airplane in workshops in and around Oakland's Chinatown that took him into the skies from a knoll above the hillside estate of local real estate magnate William Din...gee in what is now the Montclair district on September 21, 1909. Feng was the first Chinese American to fly, as well of the first person (of any race) to fly an airplane on the west coast of the United States. As California continues it's COVID-19 closures, we are able to do some needed hangar & aircraft maintenance. A special "Thank you!" goes out to our team members who are working hard behind the scenes to ensure our future guests have the best experience to come back to.
