You only turn 16 once. This birthday Vivi and her family traveled down from Los Angeles to San Diego just to shoot with us. Last year we did an engagement shoot with her brother and his fiance and when Vivi saw the photos, she loved our style so much that she also wanted to book a session. After some brainstorming, we decided to meet up at Marian Bear Memorial Park to get some great images with a warm summer vibe. We couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out. Kim and John’s enchanting engagement shoot in the Elfin forest. We had a lot of fun on this day and learned some valuable lessons about improvising. We went to the forest seeking the lush green scenery left behind by recent rains. Unfortunately, the exact same rains barred us entry. When we arrived at the gate there was a sign that read trails closed due to flooding. Too much of a good thing I guess. Luckily, with some quick thinking we were able to find a kind local who allowed us to get some amazing shots on the land surrounding his home. We also found some scenic spots along the road. Hey all! I’m so excited to share with you this sneak preview of Amy & Aaron’s photoshoot from yesterday. The big catchthey got engaged! Yup, right after we spent some time shooting at the San Diego Marina doing couples’ portraits for their one-year anniversary, Aaron dropped the knee and surprise proposed to Amy! She didn’t see it coming at all. Prior to the big moment, there were even jokes made about how Amy’s mom would think these were engagement photos, but little did sh...e know, her mom was in on it too! In fact, from the moment Aaron spoke with her parents and got their blessings, everything has just fallen right into place. Even the people on the sailboat in the background helped out. After they could see I was trying to get their boat in the shot, they started doing circles to stay in frame, not even knowing that it was about to be a wedding proposal! The day couldn’t have been more perfect. On a side note, Aaron has been my good friend for over 4 years now and I’m really honored to have been able to document this very special time for him and Amy. I wish you both nothing but the best!
