TRAP SECTION NEWS on November the 29th the Trap section championships were held. The following is a recap of that event. We had a total of 64 shooters competing for honors.... 150 targets were shot. they consisted of 50 singles\16s, 50 Handicap and 50 Doubles. Buckles and Money Clips were given as awards. In total over $1800 in awards were given. The Members competed against each other and the non-members competed against one another in the guest category. Member High overall winner was Al Ferreira with a 144 out of a possible 150. Nice shooting Al! Al is a well-known shooter around the club. He is a 2-time World Champion and in 1993 had the highest average ever recorded in Trap Singles (on a min of 2,500 targets) with a 99.83. Member High over all Runner Up was Wayne Morrell. Member 16 yard winner was Danny Layne with 50 out of 50. Member Runner up was Tom Brennan with 49/50 Member High Handicap was John Studley 46/50 (Not pictured) Member Runner up was Tony Bettanini 44/50 Winner of a 3 way shoot off with Jim Poore and Tj Smith. Member High Doubles was Rod Cargill with a 49/50 Member Runner up was BJ Mathews 46/50 after a shoot-off with Mike Ross. High Overall Guest was Bryan Hall after a 2 round shoot-off with Mike Gray. Mike Gray Took Guest HOA Runner up. Guest 16/Singles was Josh Dixon with a 50 out of a possible 50. Don Connell took Runner up with a 48/50 after a shoot-off with Gavin Meeks. Guest Handicap went to Bryson Prock with a 48/50 Runner up went to Andrew Lopshire with a 46/50 Guest Doubles went to Philip Calvin with a 49/50 Runner up Guest Doubles was Mike Phillips with a 47/50 High Vet (Over 65) Was Jerry Doner with a 138 /150 High Lady went to Paulette Wright with a 137/150 High Junior went to Austin Meeks with a 127/150. Also during this competition Austin's younger Brother Gavin Meeks ran his First 25 Straight from the 16-yard line Congratulations Gavin! Congratulations to all shooters We hope you had a good time shooting. The meal was provided by Bill Morales and Crew we had BBQ ribs, Salad, Beans, and Bread. Special thanks to John Word who ran the bar for the Fun after the shooting was done.

Trap Section News The Winter Warm-up league has finished. The Winners are as follows:... High Overall was Bryan Hall. Runner up was Jermery Blancarte. High Handicap was Wayne Morrell. Runner up was Josh Wemmer. High Singles was Dick Coffin. Runner up was Randy Jaynes. High lady was Grumpy Hall. Runner up was Denise Jaynes High Vet was John Beaeley. Runner up was Bill Morales. Senior Vet winner was Carl Doyle. Runner up was Danny Layne. High Junior was Kaden Alves We had a total of 9 ladies, 4 Juniors, 7 Vets, and 6 Senior vets. Also, John Word cooked a wonderful dinner at the awards ceremony. Silver dollars were given as awards. Teddy Johnson did a fantastic job organizing and running this league. Thanks, Teddy for all that you do for our club.

OFDFM November Placements

Attention All OSC Members, We will be having a drive-thru December Pork Meal along with Elections on December 1st, free to all OSC Members (not their guests). How will this work? As an OSC Member you'll need to purchase a $10 ticket before November 24th from which you will be reimbursed the $10 once you pick up your meal after presenting your ticket. When picking up your meal on Dec 1st, you'll need to show your 2020 OSC Membership Card to verify your current Membership. Al...l OSC guests will also have to pay for a ticket in advance, but they will not be reimbursed. These tickets can be purchased from Trap Section Leader Rod Cargill, Rifle Section Leader Vernon Gladney, Pistol Section Leader Rick Servando and Archery Section Leader Scott Beckner anytime they're at the Club running their Sections. Or you can purchase tickets from President Jimmy Grassmidt Sat/Sun Nov 14th/15th from 9am - 5pm, or Tuesday Nov 17th at the Club. There will be a drive-thru line in which OSC Members will also receive Ballots to vote for 3 Board Positions. The Ballots will need to be filled out and returned while on site. Those positions are as follows; 1) Sergeant at Arms Mirl McGinnis 2) Director at Large Doug Jaeger 3) Director at Large Rugene Cabanting This Meal is not open to the public, this is for OSC Members and their guests only as usual. Also, Ballots are only for OSC Members as well. This is why you'll need to bring your current 2020 OSC Membership Card with you. It’s with a sad heart we share the news of losing our good friend and Archery Section Leader Joe Goncalves. His loss is impacting many lives, especially his family. Many times these unexpected tragedies also leave behind an unexpected financial burden for burial and other costs as well. Indoor Archery is back again on Mondays starting at 5:30pm. Youth $3, adults $6. We all miss Joe Goncalves, but we will continue to move forward and keep him in our hearts and minds. Rest in peace, brother. Scott Beckner will be taking over as our new Archery Section Leader. We have full confidence in him and look forward to his leadership. Thank you.

The Rifle Range 50yd barrier repairs are completed now thanks to the hard work of the following; Vernon Gladney, Rob Middleton, Larry Guevara, Don Hansberry, DL Bennett and John Schiro. Both the 100yd & 50yd ranges are open again. Thank you very much for your hard work gentlemen!

Pistol Bay #3 is closed down while undergoing repairs and modification. It will be a few weeks before completion. Once done, we’ll post it on Facebook. Thank You!

The 50 yard Rifle Range target barrier is getting replaced right now due to wear and tear over the years. This process will take a few weeks, so please be patient as the repairs are made. So on Saturday, just the 100 yard Rifle Range should be available for use. Helping with the repairs today; Vernon Gladney, John Schiro, Chris Baily, Mike Strunk, Don Hansberry & Karl Fierling.

The Rifle Range will be Closed on Thursday August 27th for Range repairs. Sorry for the inconvenience!

NOTICE: EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! Under no circumstances can any OSC Club Member or guest teach any form of Firearm Instruction (or any other service for that matter) to anybody at OSC while charging for your/their services. This EXCLUDES any registered Federal or State non-profit that has specific OSC Board approval to do so. If you are teaching a family member or guest basic gun safety and are not receiving any sort of payment for this, thats perfectly fine and encourag...ed. But YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to use OSC for running any CCW courses, running your firearm instructional business or ANY OTHER business/service you get financial compensation or other forms payment for your services rendered, NOR IS ANY GUEST YOU BRING TO OSC. Doing so is in violation of CA state law and is not allowed. If you are caught doing so, you will face immediate termination of your Membership.
