Our favorite brassica pick for the season is this pixie cabbage. The seeds were from Renee’s Garden. These are ready just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! They are small 3-4 inch heads, but super cute and perfect for the Tower Gardens! We love compact plants when growing in the towers.

While harvesting today we had to stop and give honor to this perfect little bibb by giving it its own photo shoot! How cute is it!? Almost too cute to harvest and eat . . . Almost. #towergarden #sustainablefarming

Harvesting some broccoli and cauliflower. Some of these little cauliflower heads were trying to flower so, we took them small. They will be Delish! Now what shall we do with all the purple sprouting broccoli? Spring is almost here so we will focus on harvesting so that we can transition to tomatoes and zucchini and cucumbers! #growyourown #towergarden #towerfarm #farmher

Yesterday was amazing! We harvested some amazing lettuces, greens, baby greens and herbs to partner with Cheflavor to create a lovely event. We talked vertical gardening and about making healthier choices both for ourselves and our environment. We were privy to a wonderful demo by Chef Matt with our greens. We ended our sunny afternoon in Temecula at Vail Headquarters with a superb dessert topped with edible flowers grown here on our farm as well. It was such an amazing afternoon. Chinese kale flowers are amazingly beautiful. Four petals. Stunning.

Pink lettuce is this new rage!! Have you seen it yet? We are giving it a try. We are going to plant it to grow on the indoor tower here to see if the lights naturally mute out the natural dark color of the radicchio to this projected pink color. The process that is used to get this pink lettuce requires that the plant be removed from the light apparently during its growth cycle. We are hoping that using the lights will naturally mute the color to this pink. Wish us luck. We will keep you posted. And if it works, we will offer them on our seedling store.

It is the season of brassicas on the farm. The broccoli is bountiful for sure! We loooove broccoli!

We have added to our little herd here on the farm! Meet Elvis and Cookie! They are still not quite sure what to think of the new digs but we are sure they will warm up to us!
